Purchasing a bank owned/foreclosed property (also known as REO - Real Estate Owned) can be an excellent way to get a great deal in today's housing environment. Often times you can purchase a property for less than 1/2 of what it originally sold for just a couple of years ago. Still, there are special things to watch out for when buying a "repo" instead of going the traditional route of purchasing a property directly from the homeowner.
