The Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico is often known for white beaches and a rich Mayan culture, but in the heart of the Yucatan rests its capital city Merida. Merida is recognized as the most secure place to live in Mexico and its residents are proud to keep this reputation strong. As a hub for expatriate activity, Merida has long been a real estate market for Canadians and Americans seeking a strong community and an authentic cultural lifestyle. In recent months, real estate in Merida is on the rise … (1 comments)

April 15, 2011
Hmmm, tax day...wanting to escape from my thoughts of taxes, bills & work for a few minutes, I decided to put my blog together about things to do this weekend in St Petersburg, Florida.  As I searched the Internet, I strayed away from my quest (as usual-they are so many interesting things to read out there) & I found this article in the St Petersburg Times. Coordinated by the Governor's Office of Finance and Development, the meeting brought together movers and shakers from around the state and the … (0 comments)

baby boomers: “I’m Worried About Moving to a New Country…” - 04/11/11 04:11 PM
I receive several emails & phone calls each month from people who are thinking about retiring to the St Petersburg, Florida area & then spending 4-6 months per year abroad. I am more than happy to help them with their real estate needs here & in their new country but I also want to help them with establishing their new lives. I don't want to just make a sale. I want them to be informed & fairly comfortable with their choice. Please don't blindly move there, some research must be made first. I too plan in a few years to live abroad for 4-6 … (1 comments)

On the news tonight they announced that another 11,000 baby boomers (born between 1946 & 1964) turned 65 today. 6 out of 10 say that their investments, retirement plans & homes have lost value in the last 3 years with 42% delaying their retirement date. So I thought that this article from AARP might be helpful.
