remax allegiance: Houses Gettin' Sold Rap Video - 04/10/13 04:32 AM
Inventory of homes for sale is extremely tight in Northern Virginia - at last look there's just over 1 month supply of homes on the market.  Same goes for DC.  In fact, right now, much of the country is having a similar phenomenon in the local real estate markets.
Why?
I explain in the rap video below "Houses Gettin' Sold!"
This is the world premiere of the new hit rap video.
I didn't know I was a rapper and you probably didn't either, at least until I made this video.
ENJOY!

remax allegiance: 5654 Clouds Mill Drive, Alexandria VA: Large 5 Bedroom House for Rent - 10/19/11 02:16 PM
Just last night I put this large home on the market for rent.  Literally put up the sign in the dark of night -- this time of year it sure gets dark earlier, doesn't it?  Nonetheless, some discerning renter is going to really enjoy this 5 bedroom home located just off Franconia Road in Alexandria and not far from the Franconia and Van Dorn metro stops.
Take a look below for details and photos:

remax allegiance: Putting Together the Real Estate Pieces - 10/13/11 08:45 PM
There's a lot of moving parts when it comes to a real estate transaction in Northern Virginia.  There are contracts, addendums, inspections, appraisals, title searches, surveys, and a whole bunch of players.  At any stage, anything and everything can fall apart.  That's why it's crucial to hire an experienced REALTOR who can guide you through the sale whether you are buying or selling a home.  When you hire me, you're also getting a REALTOR who worked as a real estate attorney for several years and saw all the problems that could happen with a real estate deal in Northern Virginia.  After … (1 comments)

remax allegiance: A Sign of the Times - 08/29/11 06:53 PM
You've seen them.  I've seen them.  We've all seen them.  Those silly, some would say cheesy, signs that hang below the main For Sale sign on a post in front of a home.  In the industry, they're called riders.  You know what I'm talking about... signs that declare:
"I'm Gorgeous Inside!"
or these two below:

Tell the truth: when's the last time you actually screamed out (note the exclamation mark), "Honey... Stop the Car!"?  Maybe to avoid hitting a deer, but certainly not to go see a home for sale in Northern Virginia or anywhere else for that matter.

remax allegiance: Celebrating Homeownership in Northern Virginia! - 07/11/11 02:38 PM
Buying a home is more than a transaction.  It's much more than a deal.  In fact, it's a very big deal!  For most people, buying a home, whether it's their first, second, or fourteenth, is usually one of the largest purchases they ever make, and there's a lot more emotion involved than when they buy a computer, a car, or the latest technology stock.
After all, have you ever been invited to somebody's car-warming?  Do you know anyone who's thrown a party and called their 20 closest friends to come see the most recent app they purchased for their smartphone?
Don't … (3 comments)

remax allegiance: The Quoteworthy Real Estate Broker - 06/25/11 10:18 PM
Not once, but twice in this past week, the media came my way asking for information about the real estate market. Not to toot my own horn (okay, I am tooting my own horn, but sometimes it is warranted), but this has become a regular occurrence over the last several years. Take a look at my Press Page to view all the articles in local and national media outlets as well as watch clips of my television appearances.
Last week, I was interviewed in person by Nicholas (Nick) Horrock at my office. He's now a reporter with the Connection Newspapers, a … (25 comments)

remax allegiance: Your Home Sale or Purchase Helps Children & Breast Cancer Patients - 10/29/10 04:10 PM
In today's real estate market, finding the right house to buy or getting your desired price when you sell can be a challenge.  Yet, despite those challenges, they are trivial compared to the challenges faced every day by 1. young children with diseases, serious illness, or injury & 2. women who are diagnosed with breast cancer.
That's why RE/MAX partners with Children's Miracle Network (CMN).  Here in the D.C. area, my brokerage, RE/MAX Allegiance supports the Children's National Medical Center in Washington D.C.  Additionally, both RE/MAX and RE/MAX Allegiance support the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

remax allegiance: A Friend in Real Estate: The Video - 08/24/10 03:29 PM
A few years ago, I wrote a post entitled My Friend is in Real Estate: Might Not be the Best Choice detailing why choosing a friend to represent you in a real estate transaction may not be the best bet.
Here's an excerpt:
"It's one thing to want to help out a friend.  Perhaps you see a friend struggling in the slow real estate market and want to help them out with a sale.  These altruistic feelings are part of your human nature.
Ask yourself how much experience your friend, family member, or neighbor has when it comes to selling real estate.  … (5 comments)

remax allegiance: Does Your Real Estate Agent Have a Side Job? - 08/16/10 01:22 PM
Real Estate is a full-time job career!
In order for your real estate agent to perform his/her job effectively and help you with your purchase or sale of a home, it's important that they keep on top of the market, deadlines, marketing, the mortgage process, inspections, and the many other components that make up the real estate sales process.
Due to the nature of the sales business and the ups and downs of working in a commission based career, many agents who fail to plan and budget, necessarily succumb to the whims of the market.
Alternatively, those who treat real estate … (10 comments)

remax allegiance: Buy vs. Rent: Brian Block on Fox5 News Television - 08/06/10 09:05 AM
Yesterday morning I had the honor and pleasure of being interviewed by Fox News for a story on buying versus renting.  I first met the Fox5 News reporter Melanie Alnwick about 6 weeks ago when she interviewed my home inspector Jay Markanich at a home inspection for my client.  When I met her there, we got to chatting, I gave her my card and suggested she call me next time she had a real estate story.
Melanie contacted me last week to ask if I could meet her for an interview about buying versus renting in the D.C. metro area.  We … (8 comments)

remax allegiance: Katie buys a Condo in Arlington Virginia - 05/25/10 07:19 PM
She couldn't be happier!  Look at that smile!
Katie who just recently purchased a condo in Arlington Virginia worked with me to buy a condo and we did it in time to take advantage of the Federal Homebuyer Tax Credit.

While the deadline for the tax credit may be over, interest rates are at historic lows making the current real estate market a great opportunity. Wouldn't you like to star in my next video?

remax allegiance: Nobody Sells as Much with as Few! Nobody. - 04/12/10 05:01 PM
This afternoon I spent some time reviewing the 2010 Power Broker Report.  This report is produced by RISMedia and is the 22nd Annual Power Broker Survey looking at the top 300 real estate brokerages in the United States.  It's published this month in RISMedia's REAL ESTATE magazine.
Being the numbers and statistics junkie that I am, I did a little figuring.
And this is what I figured out about my company, RE/MAX Allegiance:
Nobody Sells as Much Real Estate with as Few Agents as RE/MAX Allegiance!  Nobody.

Here's the scoop:
RE/MAX Allegiance is ranked #22 in the country by total … (6 comments)

remax allegiance: $2,467,601 Per Week: That's What My Office Has Sold - 03/18/10 02:28 PM
This week marks one year since I became the Managing Broker of our RE/MAX Allegiance office in McLean, VA.  It's a good time to look back and reflect on some numbers.  These numbers make me very proud of our great agents here and quite happy with my first year "at the helm."
Here we go:
Over the last 365 days our office had a total of 317 sales for a total sales volume of $128,667,784.
That's over 6 sales per week for an average volume of $2,467,601 every week of the past year.
I compared that with the 365 days previous … (7 comments)

remax allegiance: Snow Going, But Still Selling - 02/12/10 11:17 AM
Incredible record-breaking amounts of snow that we've received in the past week have caused municipality snow removal budgets to be squeezed, road conditions to remain impassable in certain locations, large tree branches to come tumbling down, and federal government employees (and just about everyone else in the D.C. area) to remain holed up inside.

All of this has indeed affected the real estate market in Northern Virginia.
Many settlement companies have been closed for much of the week, so even those sales scheduled to go to settlement this week have been delayed. REALTORS (except perhaps those with Hummers) … (8 comments)

remax allegiance: One Year, One Company, $173,572 Raised for Charity - 01/22/10 03:36 PM
Sure, the real estate market brings challenges for buyers, sellers, and for real estate agents.
Yet, despite those challenges, they are nothing compared to the challenges faced every day by young children with diseases, serious illness, or injury.
That's why RE/MAX International partners with Children's Miracle Network (CMN).  Here in the D.C. area, we support the Children's National Medical Center in Washington D.C.

I'm very proud to announce that my company, RE/MAX Allegiance, through the generous contributions of our brokers, agents, and staff raised $173,572 in 2009 for the sick children in our markets!
When you buy or sell … (17 comments)
