Sometimes as we grow older we seem to forget what is was like growing up during much simpler times as in our youth.  LSU's Rural Life Museum helps us remember.

Hard work was followed by time each day with the family at meals.  And transportation was by wagon to transport goods as well as to travel to church in nearby towns.  Schools were usually closer and you could walk to school.

The holdday season brought together citizens of the town to sing carols and make music.  Here you see some of the hand made percussion … (3 comments)

One of my favorite restaurant visits this month was the Islamorada Fish Company Restaurant in Denham Springs, Louisiana, at one end of the Bass Pro Shop.
You have a choice of dining views and atmospheres.  One is by a cozy fireplace to take the chill off the evening.  A second is in booths along the wall of the hugh aquarium watching the fish swim by (sure to please family).  The third is on the pier balcony overlooking the bass lake.  The evening I was there a bass fish actually jumped out right at the table by the water!

For those of you who like to do fun group things at your holiday gatherings, I'm repeating here a quiz I use each year.  Sometimes I get creative and use it to collect email addresses....I read the quiz and ask for their email to send an answer.  Other times we split into groups and have a contest with a prize for group with most correct answers. Many of us have grown up seeing nativity scenes on the streets of our home towns.
The source for my answers are documented historians like Josephus recognized by the Library of Congress as authentic middle east … (2 comments)
