lanette branch: Santa 'round the fireplace, agent in the mirror... - 02/07/07 12:01 PM
say, "Cheese!"...
Yup, it's yet another bad, bad photo courtesy of our MLS.

I really shouldn't put this one on the MLS. I should say courtesy of the listing agent. I should just leave this guy alone in a room full of Stagers and let them have at him; it's the right thing to do...
LISTING COMMENTS: Join Santa, Santa, Santa, the Snowmen, and the listing agent as we all gather around the cozy brick fireplace on a cold winter's night. No need to worry about all the clutter catching fire; the handsome fire extinguisher to the left CONVEYS!

lanette branch: Would you list with this agent? - 02/07/07 09:01 AM
Yet another actual photo taken from our local MLS.

LISTING COMMENTS: Gorgeous bathroom medicine chest with the ghost of Christmas Past in the mirror. Must see to appreciate. 2 show is 2 sell.
I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why listing agents think stuff like this is acceptable OR where they're finding these sellers? If this is one of the best features of the house, I'll pass - and so will the buyer I won't bother sending this listing to!

lanette branch: Leaning Tower of...Baltimore! - 02/07/07 08:09 AM
Hold on, now! I'm going to show you this one time and one time only. I do NOT have time to stop. I do NOT have time to even slow down. Get a glimpse while you can.

LISTING COMMENTS: Picture does not do this GEM justice. This is not a drive by!
Actual photo taken directly for our MLS. I'm joking w/the comments.

lanette branch: Where's the House? - 02/07/07 07:14 AM
I'm still searching listings for my buyers and keep getting slapped in the face with these crazy photos.
For your consideration, here's a photo taken directly from our local MLS:

Below is what's in the COMMENTS field:
Here we have a gorgeous, green tree for sale. We'll even throw in the house for free! To show is to sell...
I'm kidding, I'm a kidder.

lanette branch: Bad, Bad Photos... - 02/07/07 06:43 AM
I was checking our MLS for some listings for a buyer and came across this little ditty.

I honestly don't know why a listing agent would market a property like this. It's such a dis-service to his seller. If you can get past not being able to see the room, you surely are asking yourself what the heck is going on outside that window on the left. Did someone just drop a nuclear bomb? Buy a decent digital camera for petesake!

lanette branch: Moving Soon? How To Choose a Good Company To Move Your Stuff - 02/06/07 04:58 PM
Death, Taxes, Moving...
As Realtors, we're often asked by our clients for the contact info of a "good moving company".  I sure as hell wish I had one.  Just when you think you've hit the jackpot and found a good one, they go and charge your sellers 3x the estimated amount.  Offered for your edification are some recent moving experiences of clients, family, friends, and myself--

Got an estimate from a reputable(?) company for moving two households (one was in a storage facility) into one new household 50 miles way (one-way).  Representative came out to my Mom's house, saw what needed … (5 comments)

lanette branch: Gearing up for effects of BRAC on Harford County, Maryland - 02/04/07 11:39 AM
BRAC-Base Realignment And Closure-is a fancy way of saying the government established a committee and the committee filed a report to the Prez (in mid 2005) recommending the restructuring and/or closings of domestic military bases. As a result, many members of the military (and subsequent government employees) are going to be relocating all over the nation.
We're gearing up for the effects of BRAC here in Harford County, MD since the Aberdeen Proving Ground is situated here and is a major employer in our area.
Although the recommendations came in 2005, and we're seeing some of the effects here already-we're hearing that the full-blown … (0 comments)
