art: Laramie, WY: Don't Bite the Hand that Feeds You- Swirled into Oblivion - 11/26/12 12:46 PM
While browsing through my photo file, I came across this picture that my son took in the fall of 2011.  Can you guess what it is?

To refresh my memory I conducted a search online and was surprised to learn that if we wanted to go back and see it again, we can't . . . because it is no longer there.  After you guess what it is, you can go to the links below to find out what it really is and why it is not there anymore:

art: Laramie, Wyoming Real Estate: . . . in the Eye of the Beholder - 03/10/11 03:50 PM
They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose art is that way, too.  So it was with an open mind that I accompanied our children on a field trip to Laramie's latest installment of Sculpture, A Wyoming Invitational.  (www.uwartmuseum.blogspot.com ) in June of 2008.
Seriously?!  Was this a practical joke?  The artist, a man from New York state, took this work quite seriously.  He seemed annoyed by the children who didn't get the deeper meaning of it and could only see it as a giant earth worm.  Me, all I can say is "Bless their little hearts" as NOT one of them made … (15 comments)

art: Laramie, Wyoming Real Estate: Amazing Glass Artist - 03/02/11 11:10 AM
One of my favorite places to window shop is the University of Wyoming's Art Museum STORE.  While I was admiring some spectacular glass work, a student volunteer told me all about the artist, Josh Simpson, and a very unusual thing that he does with some of his finished works.  Apparently, he and 1700 participants have hidden his glass planets in locations around the globe.  Why? You can find out here:  Infinity Project.  This may not seem that interesting but when you consider that the smallest glass planet I saw at our store was not only an exquisite work of art but also priced at $175.00, … (14 comments)

art: Sculpture in Laramie, Wyoming - Can You Find It? (#8) - 01/29/11 02:50 PM
Laramie, Wyoming.  We have some culture,  really - we do!  The challenge of this just for fun series . . .
Can You Find It ?!
If you haven't been to - or live in - Laramie, Wyoming,  it won't be easy to do the  "Can You Find It?"  part of this challenge.  However,  I  hope  that  far  away  visitors  can  still  enjoy  the  pictures!

This one is definitely not serious but it may be . . . DEEP.  Is it a brain, is it inviting you to take "refuge" from your own thoughts with the carefully placed chair in the interior?  Or is is just … (6 comments)

Now this is  a classic  western sculpture!  Whoever D. Michael Thomas is, he did a great job - it's even got a little fun in it!
