motivation: Now's the time to re-evalaute your game plan. - 02/03/10 06:04 PM
This may only be the 2nd month of the new year, but 1/12th of the year is over with, and Christmas is right around the corner.
Take a look at the goals you set for yourself this year and see if they're on track.  I encourage my agents to review their goals monthly so that they're able to make course changes as needed - not after it's too late.

motivation: This year's winner to San Diego. - 07/24/09 08:47 PM
Well it's been awhile.  But like most of you I've been extremely busy.  It feels good too.
I told you about a contest our company has every July.
We put all of our top producers names into a hat.  And the winner of the drawing gets an expense paid trip for 2 to the NAR November convention for 4 days and 3 nights- and costs paid to attend the convention.
We've been doing this since 1999, and it's been a lot of fun.  The winner gets to see what NAR and the vendors have in store for us, and they get a chance … (2 comments)

motivation: Spring is in the air. - 06/07/09 11:27 AM
Is the fact that business is picking up a sign of better weather or a better attitude - or both?  I've been busier the past few months then I've been in the past 2 years.
Our office production has virtually doubled from this same time last year.
I sence an energy in the office that hasn't been there for some time.  I'm not saying we're out of the woods yet, it's just that I can see the edge of the forest.
I trust that things are picking up for you as well.

motivation: O.M.G. I'm feeling optimistic! - 05/11/09 07:02 PM
Our office has seen an increase in written sales this April by almost 160% over April of last year!  We're an office of 75 agents at Crescent Realty, so that's quite an increase even though last April was in the dumpster.
We are seeing back-up offers on well priced homes (not short sales) as well as several offers on bank-owned properties.
We advertise a "Free list of Bank Owned homes" that generates walk-in traffic.  We put together an information sheet to help the agent pin-point what the buyer wants in the way of a bank owned home etc.  Basically the same … (7 comments)

motivation: A new level of professionalism - 05/06/09 06:55 PM
I just complete a 2 day course on negotiations.  Perhaps you've heard of the new course called CNE - which stands for Certified Negotiation Expert.
It's a 2 day course that provides 15 clock hours in Washington State.
After over 30 years in the industry, I truly felt as though I had picked up some new ideas and great techniques.
NAR does not recognize this designation..... yet.  But with almost 4,000 CNE members it's probably just a matter of time.
This is the perfect course for someone new in the business.  You deal with almost any issue that relates to listings, … (5 comments)

motivation: Real Estate is a Contact Sport - 12/09/08 02:24 PM
The Holiday Season is traditionally a slow time of the year in real estate. Combine this with the trends in the market place that are prevalent today, and you have a formula for a starvation diet. So, what can you do that's different then what the majority of agents are doing to get business?I suggest that you go "Old School" and use the phone. Yep, it's just that simple. Most of today's business models have you doing your mailings, or maybe even blogging. We're good at email and all the non-personal contacts that allow people to have their space. But the reality is … (2 comments)
