Below is a list of the upcoming Apple Blossom events for tomorrow (Sunday, April 27th), as reported in the Wenatchee World.   Here is a link to complete coverage of the Festival from the Wenatchee World.   This lawn below the Chelan County Courthouse in downtown Wenatchee is known as "Memorial Park" (honoring our fallen war heroes).  This beautiful, peaceful park turns into a mass of activity during Apple Blossom with on-going entertainment, as well as rows of food and craft booths. One of the most popular attractions at Memorial Park is the Food Court that will be open every day and evening through the end of … (0 comments)

washington state apple blossom festival: Washington State Apple Blossom Festival 2008 - 04/26/08 12:51 AM
It's that time of year again... the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival !  Plans for this years event have been in the works since the day after last years event ended!  This picture is of one of last years floats, and we can hardly wait to see what is in store for us this year.  Tonight, on my other Wenatchee real estate blog, I posted some information about the upcoming Festival and other events that have been taking place building up to the annual festival of events. It's an exciting time of year in Wenatchee.  Let's just hope the (unseasonably cold) weather warms up a … (4 comments)

washington state apple blossom festival: Apple Blossom Activities: Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast - 05/05/07 01:00 PM
Every year, the morning of the Grand Parade for the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival, the local Kiwanis club puts on a big pancake breakfast at Triangle Park, where they stage the floats prior to the parade. It's a tradition for us to meet our friends, Carl & DiAnn and Tom & Jane at the Park for breakfast.  Breakfast consists of pancakes, with our choice of strawberry or apple topping, scrambled eggs with ham, and our choice of beverage (apple juice of course, coffee or milk). After filling our tummies, we wander through the park and watch the various cities complete the final … (0 comments)

washington state apple blossom festival: Grandma Pansy's Deep Dish Apple Pie - 05/05/07 12:37 PM
With the annual Washington State Apple Blossom Festival currently going on in Wenatchee, it seems like a good time to share my favorite apple pie recipe.  It is the one my Grandma Pansy made when I was a child.  As a very picky eater, this was one of the things I WOULD eat.... this and her homemade apple sauce.  Having grown up in western Oregon,  I was destined to move to and live in the Apple Capital of the World, enjoying apples to my heart's content.Pie Base:Peel, core and slice apples as for a pie.  Put in an oblong cooking dish (8 … (3 comments)

washington state apple blossom festival: Apple Blossom Activities: Some Interesting Trivia - 05/04/07 09:27 PM
One of the most fascinating things about the annual Apple Blossom Festival held in Wenatchee is how soon the parade route starts getting lined with chairs.  People, literally, start putting out their personal chairs along the route about 3 weeks before the parade date.  The local paper, The Wenatchee World, keeps a running total building up to parade day.  Today's paper, the night before the parade, reveals there are:  1,057 chairs currently lined up ready for the parade tomorrow morning.  In addition, there are 47 benches, 2 strolers and 1 playpen. Some other interesting numbers revealed in the paper today:There are 24 food … (0 comments)

washington state apple blossom festival: Let the Party Begin: Apple Blossom Festival 2007 - 04/27/07 10:44 PM
Yesterday (Thursday) was, officially, the first day of the 2007 Washington State Apple Blossom Festival in Wenatchee.  The first sign that Apple Blossom is here is the setting up of the Food Fair at Memorial Park, below the courthouse.   The Food Fair will be open everyday during the Festival, and there will be entertainment all day both week-ends and during the lunch and dinner hours during the week days.   The first major event of the festival takes place tomorrow with the annual Youth Parade (with 87 official entries).  This will be the kid's day.  Next Saturday is the big Grand Parade, with floats and bands … (3 comments)

washington state apple blossom festival: Celebrating the Apple - 04/21/07 11:31 PM
In Wenatchee, Washington Spring is when we celebrate the coming of a new crop of apples.  As I posted a few days ago, the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival is hosted here each year.  I thought it might be kind of fun to give you a link to more info on Apples... recipes, varietal and nutrition info and much more.   There's even a section for kids, where they can click on a page and print out pages to make a coloring book.  Stop by and have some fun learning about apples.  Agriculture (apples in particular) is big business in North Central Washington.  Have you … (0 comments)

washington state apple blossom festival: Apple Blossom Festival 2007 - 04/20/07 11:33 PM
Wenatchee is seriously a-buzz this time of year. It is literally a-buzz with all the worker bees buzzing around pollenizing the apple blossoms... so we have lots of beautiful apples in the Fall. Every Spring is so beautiful during the bloom period. Besides the apple blossoms, the dogwoods are always a  fabulous  reminder that Spring is, indeed, here! Wenatchee touts itself as the Apple Capital of the World, although (these days) trees are being cut down in order to "plant" houses. Apple farmers have so much worldwide competition it is getting more and more difficult to make a profit, so they are selling their land … (6 comments)
