tannstarr turtle run: 11/21/2008 Dear Diary: I Love Astoria Park, Queens County, New York - 11/21/08 07:40 AM
I love jogging under the Triborough Bridge. You get a great water view of the residential cityscape of upper Manhattan and Harlem. They have a very well maintained track, not to mention a spanking set of tennis courts. I am plotting a new project with my girlfriends and the hubby. I decided to give you a sneak preview of the photographs to come. I'm doing some research on the area in the hopes of making the presentation useful as a hyper-local post. I may even squeeze in a market report (LOL). Stay tuned for a very interesting turtle run post later … (20 comments)

tannstarr turtle run: Club Chaos Eye Candy: Shea Stadium and Citi Field Autumn 2008 - 11/17/08 01:27 PM
The wonderful thing about blogging is the connection you develop with people. I love my Realtor friends because of the tenacity they have for overcoming difficult obstacles and sticking it out in a market which is both volatile yet strangely consistent. People will always need a roof over their heads. It doesn't matter whether the market is good or bad, people will always seek shelter.
Blogging lets a potential customer or client find out tid bits about you that may later influence their decision to initiate contact. It's not always about business transactions, by the way... Sometimes, people contact a blogger … (21 comments)

tannstarr turtle run: I Love Being An Artist... I Have Such A Thing For Eye Candy! - 10/31/08 03:55 PM

Flushing Meadows Park, Queens County, New York City
I love being a Work-At-Home-Mom (WHAM). I love being an artist. I have such a thing for eye candy and am always looking for something beautiful to enjoy. I don't know about you, but I am definitely a Spring-Fall baby. There is something about those vibrant colors that just gets my brain rolling in high gear and makes me want to whip out my oil paints and create a new work of art...
I am on a very interesting team that is judging an art contest between Realtors. I've enjoyed some fascinating … (37 comments)

tannstarr turtle run: Club Chaos Eye Candy: Flushing, Queens County, NY Tour of Homes (Vol 7) - 10/16/08 08:20 AM
"If you can't feed a hundred people, then feed just one." Mother Teresa
Elizabeth Nieves, the founder of Activist Rain selected that quote as part of her group's description. It is about "one thing... and one thing only: recognizing that ONE PERSON can change the world one simple act of kindness of and love at a time."
Jason Crouch introduced me to Elizabeth's blog. Paddy Pizappi invited me to join her group. After reading the posts published there I found myself wondering what act of kindness I was going to perform today. When you are being spontaneous it is so … (30 comments)

tannstarr turtle run: Club Chaos Eye Candy: Shea Stadium and Citi Field - 10/14/08 07:17 PM
Citi Field and Shea Stadium have a statistical comparison chart that you can read here at the New York Mets official website. Citi Field is due to open in April of 2009 and I am very excited about that because we are going to bring the boys to a family day event. How would you like to see a time lapse video recording of the construction over a period of months? It's a very cool little video but a bit slow so please have some patience while you are waiting for it to load. You can watch the video clip here.

tannstarr turtle run: 10-14-2008 Dear Diary: I've Got New Shea Stadium Citi Field Eye Candy - 10/14/08 12:37 PM

Shea Stadium, Flushing Meadows Park, Queens County, New York
I finally made it to the hard hats after being delayed on the Grand Central Parkway due to a car accident. I only got to spend an hour with the guys and stayed well away from the moving vehicles. I'm working on a Club Chaos Eye Candy feature but am having a difficult time selecting the final photographs. I took a lot of shots and am very pleased to report that the crews have made significant progress since my last visit back in July.
I am so looking forward to sharing … (13 comments)

tannstarr turtle run: Night Time Is The Right Time For A WHAM To Get Things Done - 10/12/08 10:51 AM

Manhattan Skyline
You would be surprised at how much traffic you run into at midnight in Manhattan. In case you thought it was just a song, I'm here to set the record straight and tell you the that fact of the matter is New York City never sleeps. People are hopping off and on buses, going in and out of train stations, partying on the ferry boats, jogging across bridges and eating out all day and all night...
In my neighborhood, Briarwood, located in Queens County, the last food delivery is 2 AM. I know because I have asked various … (23 comments)

tannstarr turtle run: Club Chaos Eye Candy: 3 County Night Turtle Run - 10/12/08 02:09 AM

Running up East Houston in Manhattan was pretty cool. Lots of new construction and road work going on.

Turn left off of East Houston onto Broadway and you get some pretty awesome views of the colored lights showcasing famous buildings. I like when the owners love their buildings and go to great pains to make them stand out in the Manhattan skyline.

Make a left onto Centre Street, which is located on the backside of City Hall and adjacent to the entrance for the Brooklyn Bridge. To get on the bridge one would make a right at the … (29 comments)

tannstarr turtle run: Once Upon A Time Someone Loved This House - 10/04/08 10:29 PM

If I had the money I would buy this house. Once upon a time someone loved it...

I was saddened to see it in such disrepair as it grinned at me from a barren yard...

I marveled at the stonework and longed to see the inside... I wanted to leave my card for the owner.

Alas, there was no mail box, no sign, no post, no plastic folder... There was nothing for me to do but wait
and hope that one day soon someone would come to care for it the way that I wanted to.
Once … (67 comments)

tannstarr turtle run: What Lights Your Fire Is An Excellent Question, Liz. - 10/03/08 11:10 AM

Kew Gardens, Queens County, NY
My girlfriend Liz Moras wrote a spankin' blog entitled, "What do you feel passionate about? What Lights Your Fire?"
ART is my number one choice. That is why I am addicted to eye candy. I am always on the hunt to enjoy a beautiful moment and I believe that is why, as a Realtor and Artist, I have a "thing" for the older neighborhoods. I like mature trees, large lot sizes and the privacy of detached homes. Older homes have interesting character. Sometimes, when I am off on my turtle runs, I have such a … (24 comments)

We decided to do our first Mixpo listing today. Since I did my turtle run in Parkway Village, it made sense to advertise 15038 Village Road. Say hello to MLS#2084091, a lovely garden apartment with hardwood floors and wall to wall carpeting located close to schools, shopping and public transportation. Approximate year constructed - 1947 (brick and concrete). 2 Bdrms, 1 Bath, LR, DR, EIK, 7 large closets, 2 car permit parking, 2 entrances, 1 private fenced in backyard leading into a … (4 comments)

tannstarr turtle run: Club Chaos Eye Candy: Cocina Latina Bar and Grill, Kew Gardens, NY - 08/19/08 07:44 AM

This foodie paradise report is inspired by my girlfriend Deborah Burroughs, an Agent/Loan Officer in Vista, CA. We enjoy sharing a lot of information about our home towns and she has just added a wonderful addition to her Volcano Plug series which you can read here. Deborah, besides supplying some wonderful photographs to take you on a virtual tour of the area, talks about the history of Oceanside and mentions several foodie paradise spots of her own with gorgeous sea scape views. I figured I give her a little New York eye candy: an interior city scape view starting … (23 comments)

tannstarr turtle run: From On-line to Brick and Mortar friendship! What a lovely Pizappi evening... - 08/18/08 09:44 AM

Susana and I have a ritual with Stephen. We like to take him out for two hours a day and run the streets teaching him about socially acceptable behavior. Sometimes Noah tags along, but often it's just us. She and Stella were supposed to spend the evening with Paddy and I, but something important came up. Maybe next time... You guys would really love her, she is smart and very funny. She is also working very hard on her second Master's degree. I love picking her brain and sharing foodie paradise spots (especially while having girl talk). I … (24 comments)

tannstarr turtle run: Club Chaos Eye Candy: The Queens Museum, Flushing Meadow Park - 08/13/08 10:57 AM
There is a plaque at the base of the Queens Museum that is dedicated to the memories of Detectives Joseph J. Lynch and Ferdinand A. Socha of the New York City Police Department's Bomb and Forgery Squad. They were both killed in the line of duty while examining a time bomb taken from the British Pavilion of the World's Fair in Flushing Meadow Park at approximately 4:45 P.M. on July 4th 1940.
This turtle run is dedicated to their memory and their families. Here is some eye candy from my run. Please keep these families in your prayers. They are in … (4 comments)

tannstarr turtle run: 08-13-2008 Dear Diary - 08/13/08 10:29 AM
Dear Diary, I have a thing for the Queens Museum. Seems I can't get enough of doing a figure eight turtle run around this building. There is just too much eye candy to choose from. It is surrounded by the Court of Sates, the Sphere, the Rose Gardens, The Queens Theater...  you can hit the soccer fields and tennis courts in a matter of minutes.  I shall have to blog more about this in greater detail. Here is a sneak preview of some eye candy from my turtle run. Enjoy!

tannstarr turtle run: A New York Quest for Eye Candy - 08/13/08 09:20 AM
http://realtytimes.com/rtpages/20080813_overcome.htm
Dirk Zeller, in a Realty Times article, talks about how being sleep deprived by his son affects his performance and I found myself thinking about what all of my friends had to say very recently on the subject. Stephen has not been sleeping through the night, which means that I have been blogging at very odd hours... among other things. :-)
To quote Mr. Zeller, "I ultimately made the decision that I was not going to be the victim of circumstances or the victim of my feelings. I was going to be the creator of the outcome. I set a … (22 comments)

tannstarr turtle run: Club Chaos Eye Candy: The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York - 08/01/08 10:01 AM
Today's turtle run showcases The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York. This is my favorite hiding place, where I can go to get away from it all, relax and enjoy some "me time with God." The Cathedral history is pretty cool, it was founded in 1834 after an incident that transpired in 1787. (You can read all about The Allen Legacy here.)
There are over one hundred programs and groups to choose from in the Allen directory and if you ever stopped by to take a peek you would discover that the future direction of the Cathedral is a very … (21 comments)

tannstarr turtle run: Club Chaos Eye Candy: Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, NY - 07/31/08 07:12 AM

Rumor has it this arch has been standing since 1884. I believe it, for there are signatures on the bronze statues from the likes of William Rudolf O'Donovan and Thomas Eakins 1893 & 1894. According to Wikipedia, "It was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in 1867." It is also reported by Wiki that, "it is perhaps best known for the Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial Arch, Brooklyn’s version of the Arc de Triomphe." You can read the full article with some very interesting historical links here.
There is nothing to compare the feeling of watching countless newly weds … (26 comments)
