dave woodson: Thump, Thump, Splat, Splat, Ow = Teamwork - 10/27/07 09:19 PM
I played paintball today.  It was a blast, I have played before used to do it all the time in college, but I got away from the game as I got a little older and I moved away from my regular game.  I got a chance to play today with my brother and a bunch of guys from his work and some of their sons.
I had so much fun and we all played as a team using hands signals and other forms of non-verbal communication.  We were able to beat the other team in several different scenarios.  i was able to … (3 comments)

dave woodson: Next to a proctologist I have the most invasive job in the United States - 10/26/07 10:05 AM
I am not some used car salesman, I am not some fly-by-night con-artist, and I am not some schlub of the street who is just learning this for the first time.  You are not my first customer; you are my client.  so, when I ask you in-depth questions I am asking for a reason.  Did you know I am about to gift wrap you one of the largest debts that you will ever have in your life?
I would be a fool if I did not ask you the hard questions for more of this article venture on over to the new … (7 comments)

dave woodson: I was ever Prepared - 10/24/07 04:31 PM
Well, I had two Realtors show up and I want to thank them both for being there as well as my co-sponmsoring title rep.  She bought the pizza.  I am a loyal title user.  I try to stick with the same company all the time.
They said I did a good job and they were able to walk away with a nugget or two they can use with both listings and buyers.  Really, that makes me quite happy.  I would have been a little happier with a larger turnout, but maybe that is good enough to get the word out a … (0 comments)

dave woodson: Am I Prepared - 10/24/07 10:55 AM
For sometime, I have wanted to be a public speaker, maybe a motivational speaker like that really tall guy.  I cannot even think of his name.  Well, I do a weekly radio show and today is my first ever Realtor Lunch and Learn.  I am speaking about the Mortgage Meltdown and the impact on our local area.  I am prepared or I hope that I am.  Gosh, I hop I am.  I know the material backwards and forwards and so on, but I am getting the butterflies like you would not believe and part of it may be the fact that … (7 comments)

dave woodson: Connections - 10/23/07 10:29 PM
Get oout of your cave people.  You wake up in a cave, get into a mobil cave, drive to work next to people in other caves and then work in a cave.  Get up go for a walk with a pocketful of business cards, network, hit the streets, talk to people.
I am walking every day.  My goal is to hand out 10 business cards a day.  I am not going to spend my days in a cave any longer.  I bought all of my Mortgage Consultants 2500 business cards and the prize is the first person to hand them all … (5 comments)

dave woodson: Blackberry Users - 10/17/07 09:40 AM
I am a heavy user of my Blackberry.  I am on it, perhaps a little too much.  I found a great little tool.  So, I thought I would share it.
Just released.  Kinda like google maps.  Looks good.  Live Search for BlackBerry is the best way to find key local information when you're on the go. Whether you're traveling for business, shopping around town, or planning your night out, you can quickly find businesses and restaurants, get turn by turn driving directions, and view it all on interactive maps.

dave woodson: Afraid of Change - 10/04/07 10:22 AM
At some point of our lives we were afraid of change.  I have been, the day I got married.  I love my wife with all of my heart, but I was 30 years old and I was scared to death.  I was the deer in the headlights.  If I could have called my "chase car" in to come and get me.  I would have, but I would be sitting here writing about the mistake that I made by them having them do that.
I am in NW Indiana and this part of the state is going through some serious change and not … (4 comments)

dave woodson: Code of Ethics - I stand up tall and love this Industry - 09/14/07 11:11 AM
As a proud member of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers and the INAMB, I wanted to point out that this organization has always had a Code of Ethics that they require their members to maintain.  Recently in news stories I have seen more and more Mortgage Related groups adopting these types of conduct guidelines.   My hope is that these conduct and ethics codes are not merely window dressing.  It is important hat people in our industry understand that the choices we make dramatically affect peoples lives! I live by a simple standard when dealing with someone.  This is my home town, I am … (2 comments)

dave woodson: Bad Buyer - 11/11/06 12:42 PM
You know what they are the moment they walk into your office, but you take them on any way.  You know you are going to have to put more time in on them than you want and that your hourly rate is going to go down substantially.
I wish I would learn to just tell them to go down the street or down stair to one of my loan officers that have more time than I do, but a paycheck at the end of the day is still a paycheck at the end of the day.  You can explain it to … (3 comments)
