ecobroker: Happy Green Halloween from Eco - the friendly witch! - 10/10/12 01:23 PM
Eco - the friendly witch is back to wish you a Happy Green Halloween!  Hopefully, you had a chance to meet her last year. This time, Eco has some advice to help keep the holiday from being too frightening for the planet. Eco - the friendly witch knows that Halloween fun starts with the costume.

Instead of buying a new, expensive costume for yourself, or your children, consider hosting a costume swap. After all, what’s old to someone else is new to you. Or, get creative. Make your own costumes this year. It’s fun and rewarding. If you don’t have enough items … (12 comments)

ecobroker: Oh Dear, deer in Camas, Co-existing with local wildlife. - 05/10/12 07:47 AM
Oh Dear, deer. A common sight in Camas is deer grazing in grassy meadows. This week, two of the beautiful creatures were eating breakfast in an empty lot near my home. It's something that is always a delightful surprise.
Mule deer, Black-tailed, and White-tailed deer are the three species of deer found in the area. The mule deer are the largest and adult bucks can weigh up to 250 pounds, adult does weigh between 120 to 170 pounds.
Deer are a familiar animal in the Pacific Northwest and they are often the largest wildlife that people encounter. Their beauty is appreciated … (16 comments)

The Camas Mother's Day Plant Sale and Garden Fair is one of my favorite annual events. It's not only a great way to add a beautiful perennial to "Mom's garden," but it's also a fundraiser providing educational scholarships for local women.

Each year, thousands of people converge at the Camas High School for the Mother's Day Plant Sale and Garden Fair. The event is always held the day before Mother's Day. Therefore, this year, it's Saturday, May 12th, 2012, from 9AM to 4PM.

The fair features 100 booths filled with plants and garden related items. You'll find perennials and … (8 comments)

ecobroker: Paint your world Green this Spring - in any color! - 05/02/12 12:09 PM
Paint your world Green this Spring, in any color.  Zero VOC - Non Toxic paint now comes in all sorts of colors. Eco-safe paints have come a long way over the past few years.
However, considering all the green certifications out there, it can be confusing to choose the best product - one with Zero VOC's, one that is truly Green and one that performs well. But, that's why you've got me. As an EcoBroker, together we'll wade through the "green washing."
You'll find quite a few paints that claim Zero VOC's ( volatile organic compounds). However, you can … (11 comments)

ecobroker: Debb(ie) Doesn't Do Dallas - "A River Runs Through It" instead. - 04/25/12 07:31 AM
When I first read about Roger Mucci's contest, "Be the Star of Your Own Movie," my palms started to sweat. I’ve heard enough “Debbie Does Dallas” jokes to last a lifetime. :)

Therefore, it took some thought to find the perfect movie to depict my philosophy, lifestyle and Real Estate business.
"A River Runs Through It," is about two brothers - not two sisters, which is the story of my life. In Robert Redford’s version of the Norman MacClean story, one brother eventually self-destructs. However, in my version of the movie, my sister and I are both alive, well and happy. … (92 comments)

Earth Day is Sunday April 22, 2012 and there are many reminders and festivities planned in honor of the event. For many of us, honoring the Earth and our resources is a year round effort. Perhaps, you too recognize the need to live in harmony with our environment, instead of against it.

However you choose to celebrate the day, here are a few reminders.
Listen to nature - it's the sound of harmony.
Do you hear a timeless message in the wind?
Marvel at the small things - see the beauty in simplicity and renewal.

ecobroker: The Whistling Ridge Project stirs up an ill wind. - 03/11/12 10:41 AM
The Whistling Ridge Project has stirred up an ill wind regarding renewable energy versus environmental issues, including the preservation of aesthetics and habitat.  A scaled down version of the project was recently approved by Washington's Governor, Christine Gregoire.
Opponents of the Whistling Ridge Project, claim dozens of 430 feet high wind turbines would be visible for many miles within the Columbia River Gorge. In addition, they say the project would destroy acres of forests and harm wildlife, especially migratory birds and bats.
The Columbia River Gorge recently ranked 6th internationally, and second nationally among sustainable tourist destinations by National … (13 comments)

ecobroker: Super EcoBroker - Sporting a Green Cape - 10/07/11 11:17 AM
Super EcoBroker - No, I won’t be sporting a Green Cape - but it’s an interesting idea. I’ve got some down time, waiting on a new listing, waiting on a pending short sale, and easily managing 3 other active listings.  Therefore, what am I doing? Other than the usual marketing - I’m using the extra time to kick it up a notch. As a Realtor with the NAR’s Green Designation, I’m committed to the ongoing educational requirements necessary if I’m to be a knowledgeable Green resource in my community.  That’s my number one goal. I’m not going to sport a Green … (23 comments)
