Mortgage rates are at rock bottom and won’t stay there forever!
The national average on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage dropped to 4.36 percent in August 2010—lower than it’s been in the past half century. Interest rates for the same time last year averaged 5.19 percent, representing a difference of $90 in the monthly payment on a $200,000 home with 10 percent down, as well as a savings of $32,460 over the life of the loan. TIP: Healthy eating through a vertical garden

During Memorial Day, I spent some time with a friend in Austin.  I saw this large planter with a tomato fence on his front porch.  I asked him what this contraption was?  "A vertical garden.  My boys and I grow herbs and vegetables so we can eat healthy."  He said it didn'
There isn't a guy here in Houston who builds vertical gardens.. or at least someone I do not know so I decided to build one myself.  Of course, this is all based on this picture.
So at Lowe's supplies I purchased

I ran into The Big Mamou during one of Houston Height's festival, an August showcase of local artists and talent called White Linen Nights (http://www.whitelinennightheights.com/).  The owner Brenda was out in the parking cooking up a storm of beignets and I had to stop and try some of those powdery puffs.
Brenda and her husband Rufus started The Big Mamou as a way to take Brenda's talent for cooking … (0 comments)

If you are a Vietnamese aficionado, definitely try Les Givral's Kahve on Washington in the heart of Rice Military. Some incredible food, fast, fresh and definitely healthy.  My standard is the beef soup (Pho) which for me is definitely comfort food.  Or try the inexpensive sandwhiches made with yummy french bread.  If you are adventurous, you could try the rice dishes some of which has a fried egg on … (0 comments)

Recently I went to the doctor and got an above average score for my blood sugar which means that I am pre-diabetes.  So I am now adjusting my eating patterns and habits to more healthy options than the french fries, breads, white rice and pastas that I (heart) a lot.   Zoe's Kitchen is healthy food in a clean modern atmosphere.  There are many options for you to choose from at Zoe's Kitchen like sandwhiches or soups or salads or … (1 comments)

I really like this place.  Field of Greens located in Upper Kirby near 59, near the Whole Foods, is an excellent healthy restaurant where you can enjoy a variety of vegan, vegetarian and fish dishes.  The Field of Greens have a variety of salads and sandwhiches.  Also one of the few places that serve sweet potato fries, I am also pleasantly surprised by the Tofu fries topped with non-sodium Spike!  Field of Greens is dedicated to healthy living.  They also offer what I call really random foods .. … (0 comments)

MUST SEE: TheEGG&I, Meyerland, Houston an upscale breakfast and lunch cafe/restaurant
Right in the heart of Meyerland, The EGG & I is an upscale breakfast and lunch cafe restaurant that just opened about 8 days ago.  TheEGG&I brings a fresh new experience to the breakfast and lunch scene.  When I got there today, soft classical music greeted me setting the tone for my experience.  The hostess opened the door and welcomed me to the restaurant.  Very nice touch.  I thought I was arriving at a high end restaurant for an evening meal.  But no, I was wearing shorts after my morning … (1 comments)
