Starting January 1, 2015 Austin drivers need to keep your hands on the steering wheel and stay off your cell phones! While your vehicle is in motion you’d better adhere to no texting, touching your cell phones, laptops, GPS or other electronic devices! This applies to cyclists too!
 
Drivers and cyclists can touch devices if they are lawfully stopped at a red light, during standstill traffic or if they are trying to contact emergency services. No devices of any kind can be used in a school zone.

Is your Broker a Leader or a Manager?
 
Do you know the difference between a “Leader” and a “Manager” ? The definition of a Leader is a person who guides or directs a group. The definition of a Manager is a person responsible for controlling or administering all or part of a company or similar organization.
 
For the longest time I thought these two labels were interchangeable. They are not! Think about your Broker for a minute and what best describes their function.

Every year the gals in our NW Austin Coldwell Banker United office plan a “Girl’s Christmas Party!” Everyone brings a gift (and there are some good ones), a dish to share and a bottle of cheer! After tasting all the goodies numbers are drawn and the gift choosing begins! The old fashioned white elephant way..if you want to choose someone else’s gift they chose….. go for it...but it will be frozen after 3 exchanges! This always leads to some friendly interactions!

I was surprised to find my Thanksgiving cactus (Schlumbergera truncata)   blooming this past weekend! But the weather is cooler and they thrive and bloom when it’s cooler.
 
In case you didn’t know there is a difference between the Thanksgiving cactus and the Christmas Cactus (Schlumbergera bridgesii). The difference lies in the shape of the stem segments! The flattened stem segments are called phylloclades. The stem segments on the Thanksgiving cactus each have 2-4 saw-toothed serrations. They are rounded on the Christmas cactus.

Recently the media has picked up articles stating Texas Metro areas are overvalued.  So far this appears to be false as we see the demand in Texas metro areas exceeding supply. This is quite simply Economics 101. I’m sure if you looked at particular communities and certain listings there are some overvalued but on the whole the overall market is not overvalued.

In Austin (which led the list of being overvalued) we have the longest entitlement process of approval for new construction which means the supply will take a longer time to catch up with the … (18 comments)

Handsome Hudson’s custom “castle” is almost finished!  He was so excited when he came home to find what the contractor had erected!  It has a small rock climbing wall, rope climbing, swings, ladder to the upper deck, doors to a space under the top deck and a slide!  Tell me this young man isn’t in seventh heaven!

Our freshman Granddaughter Hailey Stout #5 plays on the girls volley ball team for Bucknell University and is reveling in the win over Holy Cross Saturday September 20, 2014!

The Bucknell volleyball team clinched a thrilling 3-1 win over Patriot League foe Holy Cross with a 38-36 victory in the fourth set on Saturday at Davis Gym. The Bison evened their conference record at 1-1. This week-end they will be on to Washington D.C and will be playing against American and Saturday in Maryland at Anapolis!

I see businesses every day that didn’t get the memo their cheese moved. Their industry changed and they didn’t zig and zag with it or they just realized their shelf life was soon to expire. Look at Radio Shack..help me..help me.... I’m losing ground and need another transfusion! Did the powers at be not realize the consumer doesn’t need speaker wire anymore? Did they not check out their competition and see what you could buy and for how much at Circuit City?

What a week-end! We enjoyed rain with even some thunder..we haven't seen that much in the past few years! With the cooler temperatures I was inspired to decorate our fireplace  mantel and dining room table. I even put out our fall wreath! One of my listings got an offer and inspections were done on Friday..finally got an Amendment last night with a request for repairs.
