pcs to wrnmmc bethesda: A Mortgage Credit for Military Service? - 05/26/13 07:40 AM

"We are sending this notification to inform you that your next billing statement will reflect transactions posted that relate to a credit or a waiving of charges assessed to your loan account. These account adjustments are a result of notification we have received regarding your active duty status with the U.S. Military."
This was in a letter we received from our mortgage servicer OCWEN yesterday. A mortgage credit for military service?
While I love the sound of credit and waiving of charges I am not really sure what this is all about. Our loan was just recently - … (9 comments)

pcs to wrnmmc bethesda: "I don't take VA!" said the listing agent - 05/14/13 07:22 PM

"Sorry but I won't take a VA" was the first thing the listing agent said to me when I was trying to schedule a showing appointment for her listing in Columbia, MD. ???? Um. OK. At this point in time, I'm just trying to look at it.
Quite honestly, that comment rubbed me the wrong way - as a REALTOR® and as a military spouse. The eligibility for a VA loan is earned and many pay a dear price for it. I take great pride in helping military families who PCS to Fort Meade or WRNMMC Bethesda with their Real Estate … (35 comments)

pcs to wrnmmc bethesda: Moving to Maryland? What will your commute be like? - 06/28/12 06:42 PM
It took me 3 hours today to travel a total of 50 miles. I almost fell out of my car to kiss the ground when I finally pulled up in front of my house. I hate getting stuck in traffic - who doesn't, right? - it is such a waste of time and I always imagine all the things I could get done if I weren't crawling along the beltway. Nope, we cannot say that traffic is one of the benefits of living in the Greater Washington DC area. (As a side note, it's also not good for one's blood pressure.) … (17 comments)

pcs to wrnmmc bethesda: From showing to signed lease in 42 hours - 06/16/12 08:16 PM
From showing to signed lease in 42 hours - that's the way I like it!

As a military spouse Realtor® who lives and works in between two major military installations - WRNMMC Bethesda and Fort George G. Meade - I have the pleasure of assisting many military families who are PCS'ing to the area. When it comes to rentals, more often than not, things need to happen fast. Military families are either house-hunting from afar and sometimes rent sight unseen or need to have everything wrapped up while on house-hunting leave. Having to hunt down agents to get some answers … (2 comments)

pcs to wrnmmc bethesda: PCS to WRNMMC Bethesda: Commuting Options - 04/26/12 05:28 PM
PCS to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Bethesda: Commuting Options - Where is the best area to buy or rent?
The base realignment of Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the former National Naval Medical Center Bethesda, MD came with some big parking woes. Only about 25% of all troops and civilians working at WRNMMC have a parking pass to park on base. Base housing is non-existent and Bethesda itself is a pricey Real Estate Market which the majority cannot afford. When the new parking policy was first implemented not many options were available. The best advice was, and still … (8 comments)

pcs to wrnmmc bethesda: The VA funding fee change that was none but ... may still happen. - 10/10/11 08:25 PM
The VA funding fee change that was none but ... may still happen. I'm cautiously optimistic. As a military spouse I'm obviously very passionate about the issues that effect military life. I've blogged about a few thus far - Changes to the Retirement System, the emotional cycle of a deployment & The BRAC effect: 4 hour commute - not only to make my opinion heard but to raise awareness and stimulate discussion. On the other hand, I also like to share good news such as military discounts when I come across them and, most recently, the announcement of the lower VA … (9 comments)

pcs to wrnmmc bethesda: The BRAC Effect: 4 hour commute! - 10/06/11 10:22 PM
Imagine not being able to park in front of your office. No problem, you think, you'll just park right around the corner. Now imagine that this "corner" is about 5 miles away. Huh? Exactly.
THE BRAC EFFECT: parking woes at WRNMMC Bethesda and 4 hour commutes
The base realignment of the former National Naval Medical Center Bethesda, MD and Walter Reed Army Medical Center has been completed. Walter Reed as we know it ceased to exist the end of August 2011. Although the realignment of the two military medical centers had been in the planning for a long time, … (7 comments)
