The year ended on the down side...no surprise there! 
Our local sales volume is still down. No question about it! On average about 30% down from this time last year. Barkley area has a historically low inventory right now.  With 109 homes sold in the last 6 months and only 69 homes on the market, one would think it was a sellers market in the Barkley area!  
However, already this month things are picking up! Buyers are coming off the fences.  Low rates, tax incentives, great prices...the perfect storm for buying real estate!If you are thinking about selling, and your home value … (1 comments)

bellingham neighborhoods: Bellingham Neighborhood Infill, Bellingham WA - 05/14/08 01:29 PM
I am participating in the Bellingham City Planning Academy.  This 4 week workshop is discussing the housing options that will be made available to builders to "infill" our neighborhoods.
This has been very interesting.
Infill is State mandated.  It isn't a question of whether we want to have more homes in our neighborhoods.  It is a law that we must.  So let's get over the no-growth "thing" and work to fulfill our commitment to grow...thoughtfully.
With very little exception the proposed housing options will make great additions to our neighborhoods. Cottage housing is my favorite.  Small homes built in a small community … (0 comments)

bellingham neighborhoods: Moving to Bellingham, WA - 02/14/08 08:40 PM
Thinking about relocating to Bellingham, WA.  There are some questions you need to ask yourself. Why?
"Cause I said so."  Just kidding.  Because in Bellingham WA, there are so many different types of neighborhoods.  Each offering it's own unique qualities.  Some are neighborhoods filled with older craftsman homes, some have primarily new construction, some have creeks and parks running through them...some are close to specific retail areas, or the night life, or close to Western Washington University.  The distinctions go on.
So, ask yourself, what things are important to me and mine?  Good schools, parks, trails, close proximity to the freeway for commuting, … (0 comments)
