temecula: The Southwest California Legislative Council monitors Sacramento - 05/21/13 09:33 AM

Maybe you've heard about the new bill proposed in Sacramento that would prevent you from checking the criminal record of a job applicant, or the one that would allow a fired employee to come back into your business to go through their personnel file. How about the one that would let unemployed people collect unemployment while not looking for work. The best way to find out about these and other legislative issues that will impact your business is to follow the Southwest California Legislative Council. The SWCLC currently represents over 2,500 local business members providing jobs for more than 25,000 … (0 comments)

temecula: Lowball offers getting you down? - 01/04/12 08:13 PM

Since January 2011, standard sales have increased from 29% of our active market to 41% and sales have climbed from 25% to 38% of sold homes in Southwest California. While about 2/3 of these continue to be flipped properties, good old-fashioned ‘normal’ sales make up a growing percentage. That’s a good sign for the market. But those ‘normal’ sellers aren’t finding as many ‘normal’ buyers as they might like. At least not at first blush.

The market’s changed – I hope that’s not a news flash for you. Most areas are having half price sales on houses, three-for-one … (4 comments)

temecula: Temecula, Murrieta among nations safest cities. - 10/24/11 08:12 PM
Finally there's a national statistic that shows parts of California in a positive light - and two of my cities are at the top of the heap. Business Insider.com recently released their analysis of FBI statistics for 2010 showing the 13 safest cities in America along with the 25 most dangerous. California scored 6 out of the 13 safest and just 3 of the 25 most dangerous.
According to FBI stats,  violent crime, including murder, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault, is down across the country by 5.5%. That's pretty good considering the economic situation. You might imagine just the opposite … (4 comments)

temecula: The Moody Blues - Days of Future Passed - 05/23/11 11:23 PM
A couple months ago I heard that the Moody Blues were coming to town. Having missed them when they were here a couple years ago, I jumped online and snagged a pair of tickets before they were gone. You never know what kind of show you'll get with geezers but I've loved their music for 40+ years and figured it was worth a gamble. Tickets were going fast so I figured that was a good sign - although last time I saw Dylan a couple years ago tickets were getting snapped up too but it was a mighty disappointing outing.

temecula: Jesus Christ Superstar Enters Final Weekend Run - 04/19/11 11:38 PM
The Temecula Valley Players production of Jesus Christ Superstar enters the final weekend of it's 3 week run this Thursday, April 21 at the Old Town Temecula Theater. Some of you old Hippies will not doubt remember the debut of this exciting piece of musical theater from your halcyon days. For the rest of you, JCS was first staged on Broadway in 1971 as the first rock opera. Staged  by Andrew Lloyd Weber with lyrics by Tim Rice,  the piece roughly follows the last week of Jesus' life - provided of course that Jesus had a good voice and was surrounded … (0 comments)

temecula: Riverside County Releases Liberty Quarry Final EIR - 03/25/11 01:19 PM
The Riverside County Planning Department has released the Final Environmental Impact Report (FEIR) for Granite Construction's proposed Liberty Quarry Project south of Temecula. At 8,500 pages, the document is easily half again as long as the draft EIR released last year. I haven't slogged through the report yet but preliminary indication is that it backs up the draft EIR findings that Riverside County would benefit economically and environmentally from the proposed quarry location.
That will have no impact whatsoever on quarry opponents who argue that the blasting will disrupt the area, reduce property values, contribute to earthquakes, and produce clouds of deadly … (0 comments)

temecula: City Manager Panel welcomes us to our new Realtor home. - 09/14/10 08:43 PM
Yesterday our Association held our inaugural event in our brand new home. We closed escrow back in March and have been doing the TI's  since then  and completed our move just last week. There's still a couple areas under construction and we'll bring you more photos when we're all done.
But timing presented a terrific opportunity for our association to acquire a new facility, to own our own home free and clear and have a great place for our members to meet, to learn and to shop. As I tell folks, it's always a good market for somebody and in this … (1 comments)

temecula: Dancing with the (local) stars for a good cause. Watch me Rhumba! - 09/02/10 02:08 PM
When they asked me to do it I thought they were joking. "Have you ever seen me dance" I asked? Because that's something I rarely do and people who have seen me still snicker openly decades after the spectacle. My own children brutally mimic me to the delight of complete strangers. If you've ever seen Elaine dance on Seinfeld - you get the picture. Except I'm 6'2", 275 and have two left feet - both size 13.
But the cause was right so when the local YMCA approached me for a 'Dancing with the Stars' event to celebrate their 10th anniversary … (0 comments)
