This weekend at Colvin Run Mill in Great Falls, Virginia, take your children to shop for gifts for you, friends and family. Volunteers will help them navigate the store and pick out just the right gift to make their face light up. I took my kids to this event when they were small and they loved it!
Most gifts are $10 or less and Free Gift Wrapping is available.  Adults are requested to wait outside while the little ones make their … (0 comments)

This Saturday, April 18, Reston, Virginia will be celebrating its 45th Anniversary with a Founder's Day Celebration at Lake Anne Plaza.

It is hard to believe that this planned community, one of the most successful in history, will be turning 45 this year!  Reston, Virginia's founding father, Robert E. There will be entertainers, performers and surprise guests.

Those attending the party  will also have a chance to participate in Reston's “Video Story Telling … (0 comments)

event: Things to Do: Let's Go Fly a Kite...on the National Mall - 03/20/09 06:44 AM
One of my favorite Spring traditions in the Washington D.C. area is the Smithsonian Kite Festival on the National Mall. Picture hundreds of kites flying simultaneously against a (hopefully) bright blue sky. It is a sure way to celebrate the beginning of Spring!
If you are looking for something to do this weekend, Saturday, March 21, and want to prepare your family for next weekend's Kite Festival , the Kites of Asia Family Day is tomorrow at the National Air and Space Museum's National Mall Building. The events are free and include lessons on how to fly kites, indoor kite-flying demonstrations, … (2 comments)

Friday night arrived and they did, too.  My sister-in-law went off with a girl friend to the pre-party party. My brother stayed back … (9 comments)
