potomac river: Want to Walk on Water? - 10/19/12 07:56 PM
Want to Walk on Water?
Then come to the Potomac River just west of Chain Bridge.  The algae is so think that it could probably support a real estate professional who wanst to try to walk on water.  And it's not real attractive.

potomac river: Speechless Sunday: You Go First! No You! - 05/29/11 10:16 AM

These birds probably have a lot more sense than many of the humans who check out these rapids on the Potomac near Great Falls.  There are even signs warning that if you fall in, you're pretty much doomed, as the rescue guys know it's way dangerous to jump in after you.  Still, every once in a while, there will be a story on the eleven o'clock news of a drowning around here.
I took this photo from a pretty good distance, and the river is totally wild and beautiful around here.

potomac river: Speechless Sunday: The Potomac - 10/10/10 06:58 PM

I took this photo yesterday during a walk along the Potomac River near Mount Vernon, the old home of George Washington.  It was close to sunset, and this fellow decided to stand there and pose for me.  At first, I thought he was standing on a rock, but once I got a closer look, it's probably an old funky tree trunk.   I snapped it with my Lumex.
