staging: Finding Your Inner Super Hero - 05/25/12 02:33 PM

Superman. Wonder Woman. Bat Man. Iron Man. Mighty Isis. Captain America. Cat Woman. Fairy. Mermaid. Hulk. The release of “The Avengers” has put us Super Hero mode. I remember as a child – I wanted to be a fairy – to be able to fly. My sister and I would put on “capes” and run around pretending we had special powers. When Wonder Woman came out I am sure every young girl dreamed of flying in an invisible plane, having a magic lasso, and the ability to deflect bullets with special wristbands. Even as cheesy as the TV Show … (0 comments)

staging: When it comes to Staging - Seek Professional Help - by Jennie Norris, ASP Master, IAHSP - Owner, Sensational Home Staging - 03/26/12 08:41 AM
http://sensationalstagedhomeblog.blogspot.com/2012/03/when-it-comes-to-staging-seek.html

Am I talking to the many professional Stagers that may seem a “little crazy” over their need to place things a certain way?  Or how happy we get over being able to make sense out of other people’s chaos?  Or how about how excited we might get over how we tie a towel – albeit cleverly and creatively?  No – I am talking to the public out there – the people that want to Sell their houses or the people that work for a living selling houses – the Realtors. Staging is more than just plopping some accessories in … (0 comments)

staging: Adding WOW FACTOR makes a the diference - Sensational Home Staging - Denver's Premier Home Staging Resource - 03/05/12 04:19 PM
Sometimes our clients don't have the budget to rent furniture and we are "stuck" with what they have and do our best to make it work. These photos illustrate the impact key furnishings make in adding visual pizzazz to a house. Proper placement of the furniture was also very important to ensure the buyer appeal was created in photos and in person.

staging: Should Stagers have a 12-Step Program? - 11/30/11 12:09 PM
I blogged about Home Stagers having A.D.D. http://activerain.com/blogsview/585638/Do-Stagers-have-A
 - and although I know most of us do not actually have that condition - I did think that Stagers enjoy staging because of the short term gratification element.
Along those same lines - I also believe that those of that have found our life passion with Staging are ADDicted to Staging.

What is an addict?  Websters defines it as:  A person who cannot resist a habit, especially the use of drugs or alcohol, for physiological or psychological reasons.
OK - let's just remove the drugs and alcohol part - and … (2 comments)

staging: Get off the Roller Coaster! Managing the Ups and Downs of Business - 11/30/11 11:54 AM

I love Roller Coasters - I love that climb to the top with the anticipation of the big drop in my stomach when we speed down a hill.  I challenge myself to hold my hands-up in the air - screaming like a kid!  A few years ago, we took our kids to Sea World over spring break and rode this Atlantis ride no less than 7 times - a combo roller coaster/water ride.  We even got my in-laws who are in their late 70's to take a turn on the coaster.  It was great fun - and our kids … (1 comments)

staging: Selling During The Holidays - How Much is Too Merry? - 11/30/11 10:39 AM
The holidays are just around the corner. If you have your house listed for sale or are going to put it on the market, here are some things to think about to ensure your house is "buyer friendly" during the holidays.   First, not everyone celebrates the holidays you do so minimizing what is put out for celebrating is key. Make every buyer feel welcome - even the ones that don't do much for the holidays or believe in celebrating the ones you do. There is nothing "wrong" with what you believe or celebrate and it's important to think like a … (1 comments)

staging: 'Twas the Month Before Christmas - A Poem for Sellers and Realtors - 11/30/11 10:29 AM
Enjoy this "spin" on the classic Christmas poem "Twas the Night Before Christmas" - adapted for what Stagers do best - get houses sold!  - Jennie

Trouble viewing the graphic?  Here is the text version:   ‘Twas the month before Christmas, and all through the town   Sellers were asking, “Should we bring our price down? Or go off the market until sometime next year, We just can’t seem to get a buyer in here.”

Their houses were marketed during the season No buyers were coming - what could be the reason? Perhaps there needs … (0 comments)

staging: 15 Ways to NOT Sell Your House: Real Life Stories about Real Sellers that Really Did not Want to Sell - 10/20/11 06:06 PM
15 Ways to NOT Sell Your House: Real Life Stories about Real Sellers that Really Did not Want to Sellby Jennie Norris, ASP Master, IAHSP – Owner, Sensational Home StagingIf your house is on the market and you do not want it to sell – here are some tips you should consider.1. Keep all your personal stuff out in plain sight. Clutter makes buyers feel right at home and hides all the real selling features of your house. They will probably layer up their counters and floors with stuff so just let the Buyer see how the house will look when … (9 comments)

staging: Staging Statistics - Where do they come from anyway and can they be trusted? - 08/31/11 05:37 PM
I read a fellow Blogger's post about Staging statistics being unsupported and wanted to address this concern in my own blog post.  I believe the post was about where statistics come from and should that be the only success criteria measured when selling a house.
Staging Statistics are tossed around freely - and I can understand a concern where the origin of the statistics comes into question.  Just where is this data gathered and who is compiling it and can it be trusted?
As a professional ASP Master Home Stager and business owner, I have ALWAYS tracked my own statistics for … (4 comments)

staging: Don’t “Test the Market” – Stage it Before Listing! - by Jennie Norris, ASP Master, IAHSP, Owner- Sensational Home Staging - 08/31/11 04:31 PM
Back when I first got started Staging, the “belief” that Staging would work was just not really there. Realtors knew inherently that a house needed to look good, but understanding the principles of Staging (depersonalizing, declutter, clean, color-pizzazz) was missing. Also, conveying the facts to a Seller about how Staged houses sell at a better price and faster than the marketed competition was a challenge. Sellers were skeptical and did not want to make “unnecessary changes.”When I finally did get opportunities to Stage and the house sold quickly the “belief” was still not 100% that what I did really made an … (1 comments)
