thankful: A Wishful Morning for the New Year - 12/31/11 01:31 PM
"The sun is just rising on the morning of another day, the first day of the new year. What can I wish that this day, that this year, may bring to me?
Nothing that shall make the world of others poorer, nothing at the expense of others; but just those few things which in their coming do not stop with me but touch me rather, as they pass and gather strength:
A few friends who understand me, and yet remain my friends. A work to do which has real value without which the world would feel the poorer. A return … (6 comments)

thankful: A Touching Story About Giving..... - 12/24/11 03:11 PM

The White Envelope
It's just a small, white envelope stuck among the branches of our Christmas tree. No name, no identification, no inscription. It has peeked through the branches of our tree for the past 10 years or so.
It all began because my husband Mike hated Christmas -- -oh, not the true meaning of Christmas, but the commercial aspects of it-overspending...the frantic running around at the last minute to get a tie for Uncle Harry and the dusting powder for Grandma -- -the gifts given in desperation because you couldn't think of … (2 comments)

thankful: Local Girl Brings Holiday Cheer to Children at A.I. duPont Hospital - This is What Christmas is ALL About!! - 12/24/11 12:21 PM
A few years ago, Sam Pittman received two presents she will never forget during a Christmas visit to the Emergency Department at A.I. duPont Hospital for Children.
The nurses at the hospital made their rounds to their young patients and let each pick from a selection of toys. Sam chose a Dr. Barbie Doll for herself and a “Harry Potter” book for her sister, Marianna.
That experience made the then first-grader at Brick Mill Elementary School decide to start a toy drive for other children at the hospital.
“They gave me presents and I wanted … (4 comments)

thankful: My Favorite Poem - 12/16/11 11:34 AM
Poems can really open your eyes to the world. A poem like below, is one that makes us think twice before we do something. Every thing we do can have an action in the end and will define who we are as person. Let our destiny be a journey.
Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny. —Lao-T

thankful: December Seasons of Sharing and Celebration - Station 7 Laurel, DE - 12/03/11 04:59 PM
Station 7 in Laurel, DE is doing a benefit tonight for a children's charity. Station 7 is a very popular local bar. Every Saturday night they will be doing no cover charge but a $10 donation or an unwrapped toy to get in the bar.
Personally, this is a great benefit for a small town and over 200 people have already signed-up to get in tonight for the benefit.
I am proud to be part of the community that helps other families and children to have a great holiday

thankful: December Seasons of Sharing and Celebration - Santa Claus Anonymous - 12/03/11 04:16 PM
Santa Clause Anonymous was put together to help as many people as they can for Christmas.. In 1934, they raised $800 for Christmas distribution. This year, our goal is close to $300,000. The way that we will reach that goal is with dedication, cooperation and a belief in the spirit of Christmas.
Bear in mind that except for one paid staff person, Santa Claus Anonymous programs are planned, organized and carried out 100% by volunteers. From organizing golf tournaments and gala auctions to tracking and recording donations, volunteers make it happen. That’s dedication. As for cooperation, we partner with the Department … (5 comments)

thankful: December Seasons of Sharing and Celebration - Bless Our Children - 12/03/11 01:26 PM
WBOC in Salisbury, MD is working to make the holiday season brighter for Delmarva's less fortunate children with the Bless Our Children campaign.

For more than a decade WBOC has teamed up with local residents to raise money to buy Christmas presents for needy children in our area. Through your generosity we raised nearly $160,000 in donations in 2010.  The money raised for Bless Our Children is distributed to charitable groups all across the peninsula. These charities then buy toys for children they know are in need, making sure they have a present to open on Christmas morning that comes from the heart.

thankful: December Seasons of Sharing and Celebration - Delaware Operation Warm - 12/03/11 01:03 PM
Our Delaware Challenge is simple, it provide's new winter coats to every elementary school child living in poverty in the state of Delaware, which we estimate to be approximately 17,500 children. Our mission at Operation Warm (OW) is to provide new winter coats for children who are living in poverty.

Why is there a need to provide coats? Each year approximately 18 million children live in poverty in the United States.  While current estimates suggest 20% of all children live in poverty - some indicators suggest that number will go up to 25% in coming years. In addition, Delaware … (1 comments)

thankful: Happy Thanksgiving from the Eastern Shore - Gobble...Gobble....Gobble :) - 11/23/11 08:55 PM
Thanksgiving is all about being thankful. Do we only need one day a year to show what we are thankful for? Every day we should be thankful for what we have and NOT what we don't have. If we live each day thankful for what we have, then we will be positive on the outlook of our lives. If we wake up everyday wishing we had this and that, then we will have a negative outlook on life. Love life and be thankful!

The things that I am thankul for that money can NEVER buy:

thankful: Thankful for the Ocean - w/ Pics from Ocean City, MD - 11/23/11 08:09 AM
I am thankful for the ocean. Iwas lucky enough to grow up near the ocean and I love to hear the waves crashing when relaxing on the beach. I love the food that the ocean provides and being able to swim in the ocean. The ocean covers 3/4 of the eaths surface. The ocean and the land beneath offers many natural resources for energy. These resources are non-renewable energy resources such as oil and gas. The other is renewable energy resources such as windy energy, wave energy, ocean current energy and offshore solar energy.
A few key thigns the ocean does … (8 comments)
