Home inspectors when examining structures like decks, look at the main structural components to have a solid load path. What this means is that all the framing and anchoring of the deck carry the load (weight) to a firm, solid point. With decks this is most often done basically in two ways. One is anchoring the deck structure to the home with bolts.
