huntington beach: Summer Fun IN Huntinton Beach and Orange County - Tennis Anyone? - 06/25/10 06:49 PM
Did you hear the news about the record setting match at Wimbledon this week?  Over three days, with 11 hours and 5 minutes of actual tennis played, John Isner and Nicola Mahut battled to advance to the next round.  Amazing.  This made me realize what incredible exercise tennis offers, not to mention the cost for participating is relatively low when compared to other sports.  Almost any high school or community college provides courts, and several parks actually have night courts available, such as Carbon Canyon Regional Park (www.ocparks.com).
For family fun watching world class level tennis, check out the Newport Beach … (0 comments)

huntington beach: Summer Fun, Longer Days, and Twilight Golf In Huntington Beach! - 06/22/10 10:44 PM
Summer has arrived, and the sun is still light enough to chase a ball around the fairway until 8pm or later.  Some of our local Huntington Beach Golf Courses offer discounts for walking around at dusk launching nearly invisible flying objects 300+ yards at those in front of you!  If you are looking to get your GOLF on this summer, and don't want to spend a fortune, try these courses.
•1.       Meadowlark Golf Course - Twilight starts at 3pm for $16, or Super Twilight at 5pm for $13.  Juniors can play for as little as $9 after 11am.  There is frequently … (0 comments)

huntington beach: Summer Heating Up In Huntington Beach? Go Kayaking! - 06/18/10 09:11 PM
As the temperatures start to rise, the idea of being on the water becomes more appealing.  As a surfer, I enjoy ducking under a wave first thing in the morning, but that might be more of an immersion experience than you expected.  A fun alternative, that is still good exercise, is kayaking.  Kayaks can be rented for as little as $14!
Huntington Beach, Seal Beach, and Newport Beach all offer wandering waterways through harbors and moorings, with spectacular views of boats big and small, plus houses that will make you shake your head.  If you are really adventurous, you can try … (0 comments)

huntington beach: Looking For Inexpensive Fun This Summer? TAKE A HIKE! - 06/17/10 08:00 PM
Over the next few weeks I will be presenting a variety of things to do during the summer months that are fun, outdoors, and INEXPENSIVE!  So, put away your video games, grab some sunscreen, and head outside!
Huntington Beach and Orange County have many different opportunities for hikes, ranging from easy to challenging, with the occassional educational hike thrown in.  An easy hike with plenty of wildlife is found at Bolsa Chica Wetlands.  With Parking on both PCH and Warner, there are signed trails that will lead you around the wetlands, with observation points for viewing wildlife.  The Bolsa Chica Interpretive … (3 comments)

huntington beach: Sometimes Gimmicks do sell homes, especially when they're alive. - 02/28/10 12:19 PM
I just blogged this on my own site www.dixonteamoc.com but I had to share it with all you active rainers too.
Last week a home for sale in Huntington Beach offered more than basic staging, this house included a reptile petting zoo! Ok so maybe it was just one reptile, but the three legged iguana who's name comes from the number of limbs he currently has, is more than any animal I've met at an open house. According to an article on the OC Register's website, "Three" has been living in this backyard for over 10 years and from what I can … (5 comments)

huntington beach: Huntington Beach New Construction - Bolsa Chica ped bridge arrived today - 01/13/10 02:42 PM
Huntington Beach real estate received a new addition today with the arrival of the pedestrian bridge for the Bolsa Chica wetlands path.  Being installed near Warner and PCH, it was quite a site to watch this bridge being lifted into place.  Now, instead of "Huntington Beach Condo for sale" or "Huntington Beach Homes for Sale", maybe I have a bridge to sell you!

huntington beach: Bulk Buyers - 12/01/07 04:03 PM
"Who has the list of homes that are for sale at $0.60 on the $1?  I know it can be done!"
Okay, so i get this question every day, at least 3 times daily, simply because I have some REO listings.  I am sure that somewher out there is a fund group, with access to very senior levels of mortgage companies, and that the mortgage companies are consolidating underperforming packages into a portfolio, receiving some level of securities scrutiny, and then selling the portfolio to the fund group at a discount.  However, if you are looking at the O.C. Register and calling … (31 comments)

huntington beach: Thought and Circumstance - 11/27/07 08:03 PM
I like to read motivational books, but they need to be short.  With all the new titles hitting the shelves, and "THE SECRET" being spouted on Oprah, I decided to go old school.
My dad gave me a book that he had when he was in college.  It is titled "As A Man Thinketh" by James Allen.  It is a collection of thoughts on how we shape ourselves.
Here is one thought -
"Man is buffeted by curcumstances so long as he believes himself to be the creature of outside conditions, but when he realizes that he is a creative power, and that … (2 comments)

huntington beach: Marathon's for Fun?!? - 11/27/07 07:53 PM
I am a big believer in goals.  Without goals, just about any road will get you somewhere, and when you arrive, you won't even know if it is where you wanted to be.
About this time each year, a lot of Realtors stop working.  "It is the holiday season" is a popular quote.  "No one is buying" is another favorite.  The reality is, if regular 9-5 Joe's didn't have a boss, they would slack off this time of year also.
So, how do you stay productive?  A good friend of mine and I hiked Mt. Shasta this year.  It took several months of … (3 comments)
