environment: Saving the Sea Turtles - 05/11/10 12:12 AM
Saving the Sea Turtles is a topic on which I've blogged before, but since I was just cleaning up one of my old YouTube channels, I ran across this old video on the subject when I found a new comment on it. So I decided it was time to post a little reminder about the precarious balance of nature, and the need to protect it.
In the embedded video, I discuss a program we have here in Ponce Inlet Florida, where you can actually adopt a Sea Turtle nest, and physically mark the nest you've adopted, and are helping to protect. … (7 comments)

environment: Earth Day 2010 - 04/21/10 06:04 PM
It's that time of year again. On April 22, 2010, we all (should) celebrate Earth Day, and the planet with which we've been blessed. It's time once again, to consider how we can do our part to protect our resources.
Hopefully by now, everyone is familiar with the following words...
REDUCE RECYCLE REUSE These 3 words are what we've been hearing for years. But are you really doing your part? Are you taking this seriously? Because it IS serious! We can't just use up our planet and find another one, in spite of what we see on the SyFy channel.

environment: Countdown to Earth Hour: Join this Global Event - 03/27/09 06:27 AM
An historic event is quickly arriving. And World Wildlife Fund needs our involvement. It's time to not just talk-the-talk. It's time to walk-the-walk. Many of us express our concerns for the planet... I won't even begin to address every element of concern as we slowly lose the health of our planet. But I will do my part when I can. And right now, this is something I can do. I can help spread the word about a global event that is about to take place.
On March 28 at 8:30 p.m. (Your own time zone!) Turn off your lights! World Wildlife … (3 comments)

environment: CFL Light Bulbs and Mercury in Your Home - 01/20/09 12:26 AM
As a REALTOR®, I feel that it's a large part of my job, to look out for, and educate my clients, and potential clients about anything relating to their homes, or any real estate they may be buying or selling. In light of this sense of duty, I felt an obligation to share what I know about the new CFL light bulbs that are supposed to be more environmentally friendly than the ones we've been using for our entire lives (pretty much).
I don't know if everyone is aware of the fact that the new CFL light bulbs contain mercury. I've … (19 comments)

environment: Adopt a Turtle Nest in Daytona Beach Florida! - 01/24/08 04:14 PM
In line with my series of posts on the problems with Florida's ecosystem, I decided to post a short little happy blog this time.
In one of my previous posts that was actually NOT part of the series, I mentioned that since we're allowed to drive on the beaches in the Daytona Beach area, we have to be careful not to disturb the sea turtle nests. This is actually a big problem. You can read that post here: Driving on Daytona Beach part 2 (Beach Conservation).
Well now the Volusia/Flagler Turtle Patrol is helping to ensure the continuation of this endangered … (8 comments)
