You are finally ready to start looking seriously for a new home! Congratulations! You might want to look at Bethesda, Md - great schools, lots of shops and restaurants, and a good selection of middle to upper priced homes.
A quick fact - Bethesda takes its name from a local church, the Bethesda Meeting House (1820, rebuilt 1849), which in turn took its name from Jerusalem's Pool of Bethesda. (In Aramaic, בית חסדא beth ḥesda means "House of Mercy" and in Hebrew, בית חסד "beit ḥesed" means "House of Kindness".)
Bethesda is one of the most affluent and highly educated communities in the United States, placing first in Forbes list of America's most … (1 comments)

md: The CAPS are not the only Hockey Team in DC - Check Out the CHEETAHs - 05/01/13 07:07 PM
The people who live in the DC Metro Area take their hockey seriously! We love to root for the Caps and Ovechkin.  We love to rock the red at the Verizon Center.  My daughter played ice hockey for the Montgomery Blue Devils at ARC, the ice hockey facility on Gude Drive, and for Holton Arms, her high school.  The Holton team practiced at the ice rink at Cabin John and played its games in Laurel at the Ice House.  There is lots of ice hockey in the DC area for kids of all ages - and adults too! Not every hockey … (6 comments)

md: SOS - SAVE OUR SQUASH - OKAY, SAVE OUR PUMPKINS - 10/10/11 10:47 PM
Make your Jack O'Lantern last a week longer! After all your hard work scraping out the seeds and string of a pumpkin and then carving it into a beautiful art from, there is nothing worse than having it rot away in two days!  Here's how to preserve and protect it!
Pumpkins rot because
Organisms (fungi, bacteria, molds, fungi, protozoans, insects)  get inside it once you carve it and then the pumpkin starts to break down. Oxygen in the air can also easily enter and break down the pumpkin (oxidation). Simple dehydration (drying out) will will begin the moment the pumpkin is … (2 comments)

md: A Letter to Buyers about Appraisals - 07/22/09 08:59 PM
Dear Buyer,

Instead, they are expected to go through third-party AMCs, which are supposed to prevent them from pressuring appraisers.
One fall out of these new regulations is that there may be fewer indpendent appraisers since the majority of them will now be on staff.  This … (0 comments)

md: Top Honors for BETHESDA MD - 04/15/09 10:26 PM
I want to brag about Bethesda, Maryland, my home town.  Bethesda now ranks number two on Forbes.com's list of America's Most Livable Cities, right behind Portland, Oregon, which got top honors. The financial magazine makes its annual list on the basis of quality of life, including five-year income growth per household, cost of living, crime data, the culture index and unemployment. In January, Forbes.com named Bethesda as the "Most Educated Small Town" in the U.S. About two years ago Bethesda was recognized as having more restaurants per capita than any other city in the United States.  Talk about a diverse set of awards! … (0 comments)
