liz flint realtor: Fall Pictures of Tomball, Texas - 12/16/09 11:09 PM
Fall in Tomball.
These beautiful trees are off of the new FM 249 Bypass in Tomball, Texas.  We really don't get a long season of trees changing colors here, so I saw these trees and knew I had only a few days to take the picture before the leaves would fall off.  Someone said they are birch trees, do you know if they are right?

liz flint realtor: 2009 Texas State Capitol Christmas Ornament - 12/16/09 03:34 PM
2009 Texas State Capitol Ornament.  For the past 5 years at Christmastime I have been driving over to Austin, the state capitol of Texas, to get their beautiful State of Texas Capitol ornaments.    This years ornament depicts the capital hardware, including the elaborate door knobs and escuthcen plate, which are decorated with encised designs of geometric and sylized floral motifs.  The door knob, is raised, so this is really a three dimensional ornament.   My pictures do not do this ornament justice.  I will retake the pictures and replace as soon as possible.

The style reflects the fashion of the late 1880's … (0 comments)

liz flint realtor: Texas State Capitol Christmas Tree Ornaments - 12/15/09 11:30 AM
Texas State Capitol Christmas Tree Ornaments.  Every year I go over to Austin, Texas to get the State of Texas Capitol Christmas Tree Ornament at the Capitol Giftshop.  Below is a picture of the gift shop.  Aside from the gift shop there is a theater and some exhibits to view in this building.

Here is a picture of the capitol building.

There is no entrance fee to go inside the capitol building.  It has an incredible rotunda, and you can see all the way to the top of the dome from the granite floor with the wonderful inlays.

liz flint realtor: Stunning Chinese Temple in Houston, Texas - 12/14/09 06:39 PM

Here is a temple complex on Clay Street in downtown area of Houston, Texas.    I happened to notice this complex when I was looking out the window of a condo where I was attending an office party.  I just love chinese pagodas and structures like that, so I just couldn't wait until the party was over to go take pictures of this wonderful structure.

This is the building that said it was a temple.  Unfortunately, it was getting late and they were just about to close the gates, so I really didn't get a chance to go inside … (2 comments)

liz flint realtor: Austin's Zilker Botanical Gardens in December - 12/14/09 06:20 PM
Austin's Zilker Botanical Gardens in December is quite lovely.  This tree is in the Japanese Garden section of the Gardens, and it is turning a lovely shade of red.

I have posted pictures of the Gardens before, but with the cooler temperatures, the plants are changing.

They have wonderful paths and trails through the Japanese Garden.  I have been going over this bridge since I was about 11 years old, when my Mother would bring my family to visit my sister in college at the University of Texas.  They have drained part of the ponds for some reason (cleaning??).  … (1 comments)

liz flint realtor: Looking for a Movie to Scare the &(^%)*%$! out of you? - 12/14/09 05:49 PM
Are you looking for a movie to scare the *&(*^&(*$ out of you??  Try "Disturbia".  It sent a shiver down my spine at least twice.  I don't recommend it for young children.

This to me, is like a remake of Alfred Hichcock's "Rear Window", set in present day and the Jimmy Stewart character in this movie is a high school student on house arrest.  While on house arrest, with no Itunes or XBox 360, the hero takes the binoculars in hand and learns all his neighbors secrets.  He thinks he stumbled on a big one  -- murder.
The characters are played by Shai LaBeouf … (0 comments)

liz flint realtor: Best Barbeque in the United States? - 12/14/09 05:06 PM
Luling City Market in Luling Texas is the best barbeque I have ever tasted.

Don't forget to bring cash, they don't accept credit cards or checks.  They do have an ATM machine if you need it.  This is where the real magic happens -- the pit area.  Go through those doors to place and pick up your order, then find a place to sit and enjoy.

Get your taste buds ready for the best ribs and sausage you've ever had.

They don't serve the food on plates, just this butcher paper.  It may look messy, but the ribs are some … (2 comments)

liz flint realtor: Need a Great Dentist? Try Dr. Gibson - 12/10/09 10:59 PM
If you need a dentist in the Houston area, try Dr. Gordon Gibson.  He, and his staff, are wonderful.

Loxie, his receptionist, is very patient and will work with you to move appointments if necessary.  They are really great about reminders, they do one two weeks ahead and then the day before the appointment.  I know you are probably as busy as everyone else, so that two week reminder call really is wonderful.
Mary is the dental hygenist, and she is very gentle and thorough.  Then after Mary is done cleaning, Dr. Gibson takes a look to make sure your … (1 comments)

Hi Folks, its time again for the Kansas City Sourthern Holiday Express.  This is the ninth annual run.  This year it will go through 22 communities in 8 states, including Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas and Illinois.  Access to the Holiday Express train is free and open to the public.

These pictures were taken in Edna Texas about 3:00pm on December 5th, 2009.

This train has two cute cabooses.  You don't see many cabooses anymore.

They also had a cute gingerbread man car.

I think Santa stepped away to deliver some gifts.

liz flint realtor: Snow in Houston on Friday, Dec 4th, 2009 - 12/03/09 05:42 PM
Real snow in Houston tomorrow.  Snow is a rare thing in Houston, Texas -- although I think it did snow last year for a couple of hours.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for all of Southeast Texas from 6 a.m. Friday until 12 a.m. Saturday.  The temperatures on Friday are predicted to be 29 - 43 degrees, and on Saturday are predicted to be 32 - 49 degrees.
We could see snow in the Houston area as early as noon on Friday, especially in the northern communities.  Most Houstonians are not experts at driving in the … (4 comments)

liz flint realtor: Head Hunters and Jim Carey and Jewels -- Oh My! - 11/30/09 01:05 PM
One of my favorite outings on a weekend afternoon is to the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

Yesterday, November 29th, 2009, they had several attractions available to view: Faberge', Spirits & Headhunters and A Christmas Carol (at the IMAX), aside from the permanent musuem exhibits.

Since they don't allow pictures to be taken in the Faberge' exhibit, I took a close up picture of the poster which shows the beautiful crown that was the most spectacular piece in the exhibition.  They also had many of the eggs for which they are famous, and they also had some of the surprises … (2 comments)

liz flint realtor: Fun Daytrips From Houston! - 11/27/09 01:30 PM
One of my favorite daytrips from Houston, is to Austin Texas.  One of the best parks in Austin is Zilker Botanical Garden, and the annual Orchid Show they sponser is usually around second week of April.  These are pictures from my trip there in 2008.  On the way the to park, I saw this wonderful train.   The shape of the front of the engine is extremely unusual.

The Japanese Garden section of Zilker Botanical Garden has many interesting features, including the koi ponds with the stepping stones, the tea house and the stone and wood bridges.

The three pictures below are some orchids from the Orchid … (3 comments)

liz flint realtor: 15445 Crown Oaks Dr for Sale - 11/25/09 12:55 PM
15445 Crown Oaks for Sale -- 2.02 Acres in Prestigious Crown Oaks for sale.

Here is the front entrace of Crown Oaks Subdivision.  It is a GATED community with lots at 1.5 acres and up.

There are a couple of parks for your children.

This is a picture of 15445 Crown Oaks Drive.  Notice the gravel road already in place?  It runs from the front of the property to the back, and it could be used for the base of a concrete driveway.  It also makes it easy for construction vehicles to get back to your home site.

liz flint realtor: Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens - 11/25/09 12:08 PM

Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens is located in Humble, Texas off of Aldine Westfield.  This is a picture of the main building.

Aside from great flowers, they have some cute metal sculptures like this one of yellow flowers.  There is another sculpture on the right, behind the ferns.

The Arboretum is very good about having labels for the numerous varieties of flowers and plants.

Two more sculptures.  The artist is exceptionally good at using metal odds and ends that look like scrap metal and making it into art.

Here is an example of their wonderful landscaping, … (0 comments)

liz flint realtor: What Kind of Camera do you use? - 11/23/09 11:06 AM
What kind of camera do you use?  My last camera, a Kodak EasyShare V705, is broken.  It is over 1 year old and a discontinued model, so it would take about $150 to fix it.  I am strongly considering buying a new camera and would like to know how much your camera cost and the pros and cons of the camera.  Also, a wide angle lens would be a plus.  The EasyShare camera that I was using claims to be a ultra-wide angle lens, and now I am spoiled.  Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
Here are some of my … (5 comments)

liz flint realtor: Are you a Kodak Camera Expert? - 11/22/09 03:56 PM
Are you a camera expert?  Help, my real estate camera, a Kodak EasyShare V705 (which I can't even take a picture of because it is broken), is not working.  First, the lens cover would not close, and the only way I could get it to turn off was to take out the battery -- I know this seems extreme, but I didn't want the battery to die.  Then, after I was desperate and was pushing all kinds of buttons (some in comination), the lens cover did close.  Now at least the lens are protected, but when I try to turn on the … (0 comments)
