active rain: Holly Cow - 03/05/10 04:17 PM
What is going on lately?  I am so overwhelmed. It is very difficult to get to my favorite past time and that is Active Rain. ➽  Very interesting situations with the agent-owners--almost daily ➽  Monday -- a 2 hour computer class -- I was an instructor ➽ Tuesday -- a 4 hour management meeting in the morning ➽  Tuesday -- a 2 hours recruit appointment in the afternoon ➽  Wednesday -- a 2 hour trip each way to Columbia to attend a 4 hour SC License Dep't Instructor session where a group of us are writing the CORE course for 2010-2012 … (8 comments)

active rain: Adding Buttons to Active Rain - 02/28/10 04:24 PM

Adding Buttons to Active Rain Regarding the posts that I wrote yesterday Add Buttons to Web Site & Another Duh Moment, I wanted to update those of you who want to put buttons on your Active Rain posts. It is soooooo easy. Google "free buttons for web sites" and you will get several options, but the one that I used is Free Buttons. All one has to do is: 1) select the button type that you want and like 2) download the button to your hard drive 3)  Go to picnik, upload your button & add the text you want … (15 comments)

active rain: Add Buttons to Web Site - 02/27/10 12:18 PM

Add Buttons to Web Site Yesterday afternoon, I spent 2 hours  trying to figure out how to add buttons on my new web site.  Active Rain makes it so easy for us with their widgets. What I wanted to do was add buttons on the left side of the site so that viewers could search for listings from any page -- now, I realize that the web guy could have easily done this for me, but no -- I wanted to do it for myself. The new web site is WordPressMu where each of our agent-owners and the managers will … (4 comments)

Congratulations to Judy Jennings, my friend from Massachusetts, just passed 100,000 points.  Judy and I have been friends since my beginning on AR.  I cannot say for sure that I put her over the 100,000 mark, but I can say that I have contributed. Again, Congratulations -- you will be at 200,000 before we know it.

active rain: Over 250,000 Points - 01/25/10 03:36 PM
Thank you Terry Chenier for your reblog of my post  on Lee Iacocca . Not only was a nice gesture, but those 25 points put me over my 250,000 points here on AR. When I went home last night, I wondered who would be the one who put me over 250,000 because I was so close and I had done all that I could do to earn points except re-blog and I didn't want to get my points that way. I used to read Terry's blog a lot, but then somehow, we have not been reading each others posts lately.  Sorry, … (24 comments)

active rain: Time Has Come - 12/21/09 01:31 PM
Time has come Yes, the time has come -- I hate to see this day, because I so love my Active Rain. I have to take a few days off from AR -- I won't see you guys until after Christmas.  I've been trying to do everything and it is catching up with me.  I did take Saturday and Sunday off, but am still so far behind. Saturday was spent doing a little shopping and then spent all day Sunday baking --this just got my pies made (pecan pies and magic pies).  I still need to bake a fruit cake, wrap … (33 comments)

active rain: Active Rain Gets Me to the Top Page of Google - 11/04/09 02:59 PM
Active Rain Gets Me to the Top Page of Google
For the past several weeks, I have been taking a webinar "SEO to the Top"with Katerina Gasset.  I am in a different position than most Active Rainers -- I am a non-competing broker-in-charge.  I am not looking for top placement on Google for specific locations to get buyers and/or sellers --- I am looking for potential recruits.  Also, our company recently became franchised, so I am also looking for potential franchisees. Selecting my long tail keywords proved to be a real challenge for me because of my audience.  With Katerina's help, … (16 comments)

active rain: Meeting Face to Face - 10/22/09 03:41 PM
This past Wednesday, 3 of us SC Active Rainers had the wonderful pleasure of meeting our AR friend, "C" Starr in person.  She was in SC visiting family -- so how could she possible leave out her AR family?

Celina Gleason, Kim Peasley-Parker and I met "C" at Clark's restaurant in Santee, SC --- "C" brought along her brother and his girl friend since she did not know her way around this part of SC.
The 6 of us plus "Miss Maddie" (Kim's daughter) had a wonderful lunch and an awesome time visiting. As you may imagine, "C" did a … (18 comments)

active rain: Tips for Oldies Like Me - 07/06/09 09:44 AM
Follow up to the post on Active Rain that I wrote last week entitled:   Duh!! Where Have I Been? From the comments from that post, I have gotten some other tips for you Active Rainers concerning how to handle your Associates. Once again, I feel like --- Duh!!! Where Have I Been? Sort your associates by states and maybe even cities ---this is the advice from TLW and Todd Clark. Brilliant --- just wish that I had thought about that sooner. BTW, the Associates that is located just under Groups on your home page on the left column contains the … (8 comments)

active rain: What Is It About Active Rain? - 06/21/09 02:17 PM
What is it About Active Rain that is so addictive? Today, as I was trying to come up with a topic for my post, my mind wandered off to why am I so compelled to write posts and to comment on the posts of others? It is as though I can't get to anything else in my office until I make my comments and have read the comments on my last posts on Active Rain.  My mind just won't let me. Why is this? Is it because of the fact that AR has over 150,000 members who participate in the writing … (35 comments)

active rain: 100,000 Points - 06/13/09 02:27 PM
100,000 Points                                                                                                                                   Thanks to my AR friends, I am at my goal of 100,000 2 days early.  This post puts me over my 100,000 points. My goal was to reach 100,000 by June 15, 2009 --- a week ago, I wasn't sure that I was going to make it.  However, I was determined.

So, I wrote a post asking for help from by AR friends -- They came through with great suggestions and many comments on my posts -- every point counted to get me here --- Some commented on … (56 comments)

active rain: Tips for Newbies & Oldies -- #2 - 06/09/09 07:14 AM
Tips for Newbies and Oldies as Well - #2 In the last week, I have been amazed at how many Active Rainers are still learning about points.  Therefore, I just wrote a post for by blog Saturday on Tips for Newbies and Some of Us Oldies.  This post will be a continuation of that one. Why points on Active Rain?  The best answer that I have found about this is on the post by Rich Jacobson-   "So,What's the Point?" The Genius and Curse of the ActiveRain Points System. As Rich says: ""The Points System was originally intended to recognize the Top … (26 comments)

active rain: Tips for Newbies and Some of Us Oldies - 06/06/09 02:45 PM
Tips for Newbies and Some of Us Oldies   This past week I learned that Active Rain has changed how their week runs --- the Active Rain week now runs   Monday through Sunday.  This was changed several weeks ago --- somehow, I missed the post about that one. Thank you, Bob Stewart for such a nice email concerning this topic. I really appreciated your attitude --- that of really caring about the AR member. When I posted about being confused, there were several comments from people who did not know this either. Hence, my post for today. This can be an … (103 comments)

active rain: I've Got It - 05/28/09 03:44 PM
I've Got It Yes, I finally got it.  Got what?  What all of this social networking is about, especially Twitter. When I was attending the REBar Camp in Charlotte sitting in a session on Twitter, the light bulb finally went off.  I had been having a really hard time understanding what all the fuss was about and really how to use it.  Man, oh, man --- it is just to social network.  Helloooooooo --- I thought that it was a sales tool.
On Active Rain (sometimes), Facebook and on Twitter, I was pushing AgentOwned Realty.  I was sooooooooooooooo wrong. I … (24 comments)

active rain: Great Reputation or What? - 05/17/09 02:27 PM
Great Reputation or What?

If one does not have a great reputation, what do they have?

If one is not honest, it doesn't take long for the "public" to discover this.  And you are doomed as far as business is concerned.

If one is not trustworthy, it doesn't take long for the "public" to discover this.  And you are doomed as far as business is concerned.

If one is not ethical, ...................................................................................................................

If one is not legal, ........................................................................................................................

If one is not moral, .................................................. And you are doomed as far as business is concerned.
