holidays: Last Minute Gift shopping - 12/22/08 08:16 AM
At this time of the season, I am hearing a lot of "Thanks goodness my Christmas shopping is done!" Yesterday we had more snow along with sub-zero weather and Main Street was deserted. I feel really sorry for anyone who still has the job of hunting down a few last minute gifts.
All mine are wrapped and residing neatly underneath my Christmas tree. I always find it easy to buy for the men and children on my list and much more difficult to buy for the women. I would guess the why, is too often I end up finding things … (7 comments)

holidays: Merry Christmas Thank You - 12/18/08 01:13 PM
"Tis the Season to be Merry"... As Christmas Day draws nearer and the year begins to wind down, it is time once again to reflect upon the past years business of 2008. I would have to say 2008 has been a more challenging and demanding year than any other year I can actually recall.  For most of the year we in the housing industry have had to listening to the entire news media, filled daily with bad news about failed banks, home foreclosures and now the Auto industry woes; we can only hope that 2009 will be better. We have watched … (3 comments)

holidays: Holiday Surprise Gift from an AR Friend - 12/13/08 06:39 PM
First thing every morning I always stop at the post office to pick up my mail. What a nice surprise... today inside by mailbox was a little package. Upon closer look I notice it was from my AR Friend, Sally Hanson.
I am thinking... what can this be? Once I arrived at my desk; I opened it right up. What a delightful, simple little gift you have sent me!  A little house shaped cookie cutter and a lovely holiday letter.  It is ever so nice that you choose to share such a sweet treat of an idea with me... Now Don't … (7 comments)

holidays: Ladies Golf Christmas Party - 12/13/08 05:30 PM
Along with cold weather, there is no surer sign that the holidays are here... than holiday parties. We have already had the neighborhood party, which was a progressive party going from house to house. This week there will be several others to attend.
So far, my favorite is the ladies golf party. Lucky for all of us golfing ladies, the clubhouse is a great place to host a party! The annual event consists of a potluck dish to pass and a gift to give. It has been hosted at member's homes, but the clubhouse is nicer with the mess being … (2 comments)

holidays: Christmas Shopping in Viroqua - 12/08/08 09:03 AM

These 3 cheerful shoppers make up my usual Thursday foursome at the Viroqua Hills Golf Course. I caught them coming out of the Nelson Ag Center with their arms full of wrapped gifts.  Yes... in small town Viroqua that is where one shops. LOL they do have a really nice gift department for all those ladies on the farm and for us off the farm townies.  As you can see from my photo, my golf cronies do know what to do when it's not golf weather, shop, shop, shop.
After the giggles and photos, we headed over to the Viking … (7 comments)

holidays: Christmas Cards - 12/05/08 01:28 PM
Are Christmas Cards a waste of time and money? What's your opinion? This year I am betting there will be fewer showing up in my snail mail box. I am already noticing their absence.
Traditionally I usually get one or two the very day after Thanksgiving. The first ones are always from our franchise headquarters. Others are sometimes from those who do a lot of business with me or someone who strives for top of mind status. Generally, my receipt of Christmas cards continues and gains momentum with more and more cards each day. It generally lasts all the way up … (10 comments)

holidays: Real Green or Artificial Green - 11/26/08 12:38 PM

As I drove around Viroqua yesterday I could not help but notice that Christmas tree lots are starting to pop up around town. That's not a surprise, since there are now only 28 days remaining before Christmas. Even my teammates and I got into the holiday season spirit. We just got done putting up a few strands of lights on the office outdoor sign, HO, HO, HO... it sure will look nice.
When it comes to picking out a Christmas tree you cannot get more traditional and Eco Friendly than having … (5 comments)
