beach: Some Fun Things To Do In Ocean City, Maryland - 04/20/10 02:20 PM
Parasail – Soar high above the boardwalk and get the best view of Ocean City – from 800 feet in the air. Experienced guides guarantee a safe, smooth ride, and you might not even have to get your feet wet. Fly over the bay to check out the OC skyline, or take the ocean route and try to spot dolphins.  And the best part – no experience is necessary for this exhilarating ride.

beach: My Pilates Buddies - 06/18/09 03:19 PM

I take a Pilates class in my hometown of Ocean City, Maryland. I love Pilates, but what I think I like the most about it are the others that share my pain, and make me laugh while we are contorting our bodies into somewhat unusual positions in the ongoing pursuit of staying in shape.
Our little group got together for an evening - no Pilates that night...and shared some munchies, cocktails and camaraderie. I do regret that we snapped this photo so late in the evening that many had left and are not pictured.  But for us troopers that … (8 comments)

beach: Assateaque Island - Day At The Beach - 06/07/09 04:21 PM

I spent the day Sunday on the beach at Assateaque Island just south of Ocean City, Maryland on the Delmarva Peninsula.
It's just beautiful. The ponies of Assateaque will walk right up to you on the beach. You are not supposed to feed or touch them since they are wild ponies, it's kind of hard to resist though.
Assateaque beach does have lifeguards, so you can swim in protected areas. There is also short and long term camping facilities. Many an evening I have spent further south on the Island on the part where 4 wheel drive vehicles are allowed on … (2 comments)

beach: Event News - Air Show Returns To Ocean City, Maryland - 05/24/09 11:16 AM

I had the opportunity to see the air show last year, and it was incredible. This year there have been many more demonstrations and performers added to the program. It's a must see.
The three day event is June 12-14, 2009. Friday night is a kick off party on the beach, where the United States Army Golden Knights parachute team, will "drop in" on the festivities. There will be air craft and performers from all five branches of the military, including the United States Coast Guard. The show runs for four hours on both Saturday and Sunday from noon … (2 comments)

beach: Second Home Real Estate Market - 05/12/09 01:12 PM
NAR's (National Association of REALTORS) 2009 Investment and Vacation Home Buyers survey shows that second home buyers tend to be more confident about today's housing market.
Second homes accounted for 30 percent of all home transactions last year, down from 33 percent in 2007 and 40 percent in 2005 - the peak year for home speculation. NAR's chief economist Lawrence Yun said, "That it was expected that vacation home sales would fall given the impact of a declining economy on discretionary purchases". Yun noted that a steady share of investment home sales came from buyers who took advantage of deeply discounted … (0 comments)

beach: Boardwalk Stroll in Ocean City, Maryland - 05/10/09 03:44 PM
I spent a wonderful afternoon on the boardwalk in Ocean City, Maryland on Mother's Day. It was a warm and beautiful day, and it is beginning to look and feel like summer at the beach.
I want to take this opportunity to wish all the Mom's out there a very Happy Mother's Day. Mom's are the corner stone of our lives and they should always be recognized...not just on one specific date.
Enjoy your day!

beach: Surf's Up !!! - 04/21/09 11:17 AM
Our son Dylan, is a Professor at The University of North Carolina in Wilmington. In addition to being a great teacher, he is also the wonderful Coach of the UNCW surf team. His team had a competition in Sebastain Inlet, Florida this past weekend, and we wanted to pass on those results.
Congratulations to the team. We wish you all the best in the Nationals!

beach: Ocean City, Maryland Hook Bracelet - 04/17/09 12:29 PM
There are many wonderful businesses in Ocean City, Maryland that are open on a year round basis and have been a staple in the area for many years. One of those businesses is Park Place Jewelers.  This fabulous jewelry store is owned and operated by Todd and Jill Ferrante.
They have created a niche for themselves at the Beach, and one of their signature pieces is the Ocean City Hook collection of jewelry. I particularly like the O.C. Hook Bracelet. It's a gold bracelet with the interlocking letters O & C.  It is a statement of sun and fun here in … (0 comments)

beach: No Pain, No Gain - 04/08/09 02:09 PM
I have been out of commission for 5 weeks this Thursday (4/9/09). I had shoulder surgery, and boy oh boy, I did not know what to expect.  I have a lot of ideas to write about, but only one finger to type with, and that's not going so well.
In as brief a fashion as I can, here are my thoughts:
I hate physical therapy.  (I know it's good for you).
I've had children, and this was worse.
I miss driving.
I wish I could put on my socks, get dressed alone, take a normal shower, and shampoo and blow dry … (7 comments)

beach: Are You Feeling A Little Irish? - 03/03/09 11:12 AM

We are all a bit Irish on St. Patty's Day. The wearing of the green seems to bring out high spirits and festive behavior regardless of how much or how little Irish you really are.
The 29th annual Ocean City Maryland St. Patrick's Day Parade, will be held on Saturday March 14, 2009. The parade begins on 60th Street  at 12:00pm. It heads south to the 45th Street Village and the reviewing stands.  However, you don't have to wait until noon to be feeling that strong Irish feeling. The annual Irish Festival starts at 11:00am also at the 45th Street … (0 comments)

beach: Mortgage Interest Rates at Historic Lows - 12/18/08 01:57 PM
The Federal Reserve announced late Tuesday (12/16/08) that they are dropping the Federal Funds Rate (what Banks charge one another to borrow) to a target rate of 0%-.25%.....they also agreed to buy Mortgage Securities in record numbers. This is excellent news for interest rates on mortgages. We have headed into uncharted territory with rates approaching below 5% on a 30 year fixed.
This is unbelievably cheap money. With sales prices at historic lows, now coupled with low, low interest rates, now is the time to buy.  You can buy a 2nd home at the beach in Ocean City, Maryland with as … (2 comments)

beach: Ocean City, Maryland Boardwalk ... - 11/10/08 02:31 PM
It's hard to believe on a sunny Sunday afternoon in November that there were so many people on the boardwalk.  Ocean City, MD has such a noderate climate.  Many visitors and locals alike took advantage of this warm Fall day today to spend time on the boardwalk.  I should know, I was there too!

beach: To Golf or Not to Golf ... - 11/04/08 03:00 PM
I'll be the first to admit, I am not a golfer.  I have gone out to play (ha ha) a very limited number of times.
However, having said that, my husband, Kevin McNamara, is an avid golfer.  He complains about his lack of golf skills quite frequently, but I understand that type of behavior is par for the course (pardon the pun), for the average golfer.
Our family are members of, and very much love our golf club.  Ocean City Golf & Yacht Club has been Ocean City Maryland's leading golf course since 1959.   Ocean City has two eighteen hole courses, the … (0 comments)

beach: My Husband and My Best Friend - 10/16/08 01:35 PM
Living and working in Ocean City, Maryland is wonderful. In addition, I get to share this with my husband, Kevin McNamara.
Kevin has been selling real estate in Ocean City, Md., and lower Delaware since 1976. I wanted to introduce Kevin, since readers of my blog never get to hear his "voice", just mine in the form of the written word.
He's a great guy and a fantastic Father. I am very blessed to have such an awesome husband.
Meet Kevin....
