homes: New Hampshire Farmer's Markets -- What's in Season? - 07/22/10 10:24 AM

What's in Season?
New Hampshire, the "Live Free or Die" state boasts over 75 farmer's markets throughout the state.
I love the idea of buying and eating locally.  The fruits and vegetables are fresh and the fragrance of the flowers is delicious.
Buying locally at a New Hampshire Farmer's Market also supports our local farmers and helps grow the New Hampshire economy.
You can locate a farmer's market and discover what is in season at the NH Farmer's Market Association website.
Don't these fruits, vegetables and flowers look inviting?   Stop by a local Farmer's Market and enjoy the bounty  of the season!

One of my favorite places to visit in New  Hampshire is Parker's Maple Barn.  Parker's Maple Barn is a family owned business which began in the 1960s with a small Sugar House.
Today, Parker's Maple Barn is a very popular gathering place.  You will enjoy the restaurant,  a visit to the operating sugar house and attending the seasonal traditional POW WOWS.
The barn was built in 1782 in Milford, New Hampshire.  It  was known as "The Laurels".   In the ‘60s it was dismantled and rebuilt in the quaint town of Mason, New Hampshire.

homes: Hollis, New Hampshire ~ A Quaint New England Town - 08/02/08 09:03 PM

Welcome to Hollis New Hampshire
Hollis, New Hampshire is a beautiful small, country town accented by rolling hills and small farms.  While Hollis has experienced growth over the past decade, it still remains an agricultural producing area attracting people from miles away to sample fresh produce.
Hollis was part of the 1673 land grant call the Dunstable Grant.  When it was later divided, then governor Benning Wentworth, named the western part "Holles" after his ancestor, John Holles, Earl of Clare.  It was charted in 1746 and it became known as "Hollis," named after Thomas Hollis, a supporter of Harvard College
