THE GREAT AWAKENING: ... "YOU HAVE BEEN SNOOKY-LOOED!!!"
I became starkly aware of where I was the other night at 8;30 PM in a deluge of rain without an umbrella and standing in mud that was slowly encasing my shoes with a thick coating of mud.  As I followed my overzealous buyer into a completely darkened house-- I woke up: "This is not a good sign!...This is like all those other times I have overdone it with my over-time and my over-work output!"
A buyer pushing me to the ultimate output of energy and physical involvement--has no intention of ever buying---they just like to … (79 comments)

FUN THINGS TO DO IN SOUTHAMPTON, NEW YORK, THE FUN PART OF THE HAMPTONS...
Sure there are other villages and hamlets to enjoy and each one has it's own personality and attractions; but there is something about Southampton, New York that makes you want to come back again and again and again!!!

What to do the first week here in the Hamptons??? Whether you are a summer resident or a summer tenant--there is always the question of what to do with the kids?--now that you are all settled in?

southampton: SOUTHAMPTON, NEW YORK... WHY I CHOOSE TO LIVE HERE: - 05/16/12 06:30 AM
SOUTHAMPTON, NEW YORK... WHY I  CHOOSE TO LIVE HERE:
It was 1978 and I had just moved to Manhattan from Michigan. I was very new to the Hamptons as a weekend get-away and was just beginning to try to spend every summer weekend here. Living in the cement "oven" of the Big Apple can be so oppressive!

About 2 hours away is the escape that everyone "in the know" now enjoys! Record crowds now fill The Hamptons every summer and Fall weekend.
What is it about Southampton, New York that made me choose to spend my summer weekends here? The very same … (15 comments)

southampton: WANT TO CAPTURE YOUR "NICHE" AUDIENCES ATTENTION?...Use Color In Your Local Reports!! - 07/12/11 09:15 PM
IN ONE OF MY LAST POSTS: " PUTTING YOUR "LOCAL KNOWLEDGE" TO WORK FOR YOU: ...How To Make It Work And Why It Will Create More Business! " I wrote that the color in your marketing area is one major way to get a good a solid, emotional description of your niche market:
WANT TO CAPTURE YOUR "NICHE" AUDIENCES ATTENTION?
USE LOCAL COLOR; that is, describe the place and it's surroundings in a colorful way: "Green grasses flow beside the pathway, making your walk one to remember"...a simple statement that is not just: "there is a walk-way leading to the spot". Another one: "White sand stretches into … (33 comments)

southampton: DOWNSIZING AMERICA...PROXIMITY IS KEY; Mini-Estates Are Being Created Right Here In Southampton!!! - 10/12/10 06:39 AM
DOWNSIZING AMERICA: Proximity is key; Mini-estates are being created, right here in Southampton!!! Builders are building them and buyers are buying them---where is it heading? I think we may have a trend here!
No more 10,000 Square foot houses--no more multiple acres of land to manage and no more cookie cutter designs for this "New Home" buyer! No! They want the new and  special, custom-home on a 1/3 to 1/2 acre, near everything including the ocean and the center of town---at least here they do!!!
THE NEW, "NEW HOME" BUYER
What is it that buyers like about a brand new house??? … (41 comments)

southampton: DO YOU KNOW HOW To Prime The Business Pump To Get Your Business FLOWING Again? - 05/21/10 09:27 AM
DO YOU KNOW HOW To Prime the business pump to get your business FLOWING again?    Real Estate is just beginning to rumble again; there is a new sense of what the new RE business is like but how do we get there from here? How do we make it happen? How do we get it going again???
Since I have a tremendous amount of very strong competition here in the Hamptons, I look for as many ways to differentiate myself....Southampton, New York has been hit VERY hard by the housing downturn and Bernie Maydoff too! So it is critical for me to be … (21 comments)

southampton: RECOVERY? WILL THAT EVER HAPPEN?...OR ARE WE IN FOR 10 MORE YEARS OF THIS??? - 04/11/10 08:53 PM

NOTE: This is a re-write of a post from several weeks back--the timing was wrong so I wanted to run it past all of you again so that if any new ideas have come to the surface of late, you could share them.
RECOVERY? Will that ever happen? Or are we in for 10 more years of this???   Have you asked yourself this question? Look back on the days when caution was a word we did not use much less act upon when it was needed the most. I could go into depth here, just covering all the gory details of how this recession began and how it has … (21 comments)

southampton: Southampton, NewYork and Southampton Village are where things are Happening! - 02/14/10 05:02 PM
So, it doesn't look like the very famous Hamptons! And, it certainly does not look like a summer resort---that's true,  but then we haven't had 4 feet of snow before!

Snow is my favorite snack!
Southampton, New York and Southampton Villageare the place to be no matter what time of year. Although the demographics show a very small year round population here, that has been changing since 2001 and the terrible events of September 11thof that year. Since that day the population has ballooned here--families who do not want to live in the city now find it very appealing to move out here … (2 comments)

southampton: "SMALLER IS BETTER", A NEW TREND??? - 02/16/09 01:11 PM
TO QUOTE Seth Godin: ...."SMALL IS THE NEW BIG" and here in Historic Southampton Village is where you can find a treasure trove of the most interesting and affordable of the smaller houses that still exist in the Hamptons. Of course Seth Godin was writing about the new trends in Corporate America, but the same thinking can be applied and maybe even attributed to the "efficiency" trends of Green building and to the "graying" of America.
YES!  They still do exist---in spite of their near-devastation by the developers who appeared in the Hamptons over the last 10 years, smaller cottages have started to … (9 comments)

southampton: ......DID YOU KNOW??? ...LITTLE KNOWN SOUTHAMPTON, NY TID-BITS: THE EARLY DAYS - 01/20/08 09:46 PM

Southampton, New York lies along the Eastern coast line on the shores of the mighty Atlantic Ocean.
Steeped in history, this town is a sprawling stretch of farm fields, pine barrens and ocean dunes and is the most beautiful part of the island known as Long Island, named Long Island because it is. The Village of Southampton is located on the Atlantic, and siddles up to the vast Shinnecock Bay. This village is where the original settlers came to establish a way of life that has persisted down through the last few centuries.

Did you know that Southampton is the oldest village on the East … (0 comments)
