michaels dig: "E" Stands For Enough... - 04/15/11 12:55 PM
"E" Stands For Enough...Invariably, as life would have it, I drag sorry butt outta bed late, the coffee pot fails to have my elixir of life on the ready and I have an appointment across town in less than an hour. That sux. Oh well, I flip the switch on the pot as I rush to shower, grab a mug on the way out the door, jump in the car just to find the tank resting on "E". That sux. Okay, I drive a car that is supposed to get 47mpg if I go easy, but then I'm running late. I … (26 comments)

michaels dig: Friday's Fotos... - 04/15/11 07:10 AM
Friday's Fotos...I'm not sure if the title of this post should be something more like; "Ask and ye shall receive", "sometimes you just get lucky"; "I get by with some help from some friends"; or a combination of all these. Wednesday, while at RE-BarCamp at the Icon in downtown Nashville, I got the opportunity of a life time.Nashville is an upscale, interesting, musically talented, historic, and IMHO a photogenic town. But then, I may just be a tad biased. Mesmerized by view of downtown from the 9th floor of the Icon, it dawned on me that there are very few public … (31 comments)

michaels dig: Thankful Thursdays... - 04/14/11 06:43 AM
Thankful Thursdays...Looking back, there are many things I am thankful for. Yesterday, was no exception. RE-Barcamp, was held at the Icon which is nestled in the Gulch, in downtown Nashville, TN. Not only was I thankful to be able to attend and learn from experts, but I was thankful to be be able to connect with some of my ActiveRain friends from afar. To me, it is always great to be able to put a voice and a live face to the name and the avatar I see roll down the blogroll. It was great to talk to and see two … (30 comments)

(not so) Wordless Wednesday...Adorned like a ballerina in her silk dress with delicate underlayers of crinoline, the Quanson Cherry blooms in my front yard. Blushing pink against the backdrop of the early morning sky, she dances gracefully across the lawn, enchanted by the medley sung by the choir of birds nestled in her hair. The sun, peeking from behind the billowy curtains of the early morning sky applauds her performance.   radnorlake

michaels dig: Monday Morning Motivator & Some Points to Ponder... - 04/11/11 03:13 AM
Monday Morning Motivator & Some Points to Ponder...      “Mondays are the potholes in the road of life.”     ~ Tom Wilson I'm all too familiar with potholes. Those nasty ruts in my highway of life that produce an uncomfortable bump when I hit them while cruising 90 miles per hour, radio blasting, petal-to-the-metal, speeding down life in the fast lane. Let's face it, life is a road full of potholes. Some are small and shallow and although I frown at the inconvenience, I quickly readjust and cruise onward. It is the ones are large and deep that can be the … (33 comments)

(not so) Speechless Sundae...In the cool of the dawn, he awakens his lover with soft caresses. She responds to his gentle touch. Smiling, she opens her arms and embraces him. Bodies and hearts intertwined, they sway to the music wafting on the whispering morning breeze. Like two lovers caught in the throws of a forbidden affair; he steals a kiss as the sun breaks. He leaves, promising to return on the morrow… The Dew and the Rose radnorlake

michaels dig: Dogwoods... - 04/09/11 06:11 PM
Dogwoods...Every year, just after Redbud Winter, the Dogwoods come out to play. Lifting arms, heavily laden with pure white blossoms, they gaze towards the heavens, as they grace the morning sky. They beckon to take their picture in the soft, pure shades of the early morning Tennessee light. They smile for me as I snap away, totally lost in their awe and beauty. radnorlake...

michaels dig: Go Ahead, Call Me What You Want... - 04/09/11 07:17 AM
Go Ahead, Call Me What You Want...What? 6 AM? No! Can't be. Must be something wrong with the clock. The automatic electronic synchronization gizmo must be on the fritz. What's That? Can't be! Birds chirping out my window? Gawd, I must be either in a bad dream or it really is 6 and my sorry butt is still in the sack. Now down here, we have a lot of names for folks who sleep in. We call them sorry, lazy, slug, sloth, good-fer-nuthin' and if you really want to hit below the belt, heathen.  Now I'm not one to interject blame … (33 comments)

michaels dig: I'm Alright, I'm Okay... - 04/08/11 05:57 PM
I'm Alright, I'm Okay...Several years ago, John Sebastian of the Lovin' Spoonful, sang a song about there being thirteen hundred and fifty two guitar pickers in Nashville. Well folks, I can tell you one thing for sure, they're a whole lot more than that now.Last night, I had the opportunity to see a group of talented brothers, who, like cream, appear poised to rise to the top of their profession. The Flat River Band held a release party to debut their newest album "High Rollers". The release party was held in The Listening Room Cafe in historic Cummins Station, in downtown … (12 comments)

Friday's Fotos...There are many signs that indicate spring is here to stay here in Middle Tennessee. None speak louder than the return of the Eastern Bluebirds to the nesting boxes in my back yard. This male, sporting a cobalt blue sports jacket and rust colored vest, sits patiently atop a prospective home while the lady of the house checks it out to ensure it is the right place to raise their upcoming family. Sound familiar? If all goes well, nest building will begin in a few days and the sounds of hungry chicks will soon be heard...

michaels dig: Does ActiveRain Need Bogus Bloggers? - 04/07/11 05:51 AM
Does ActiveRain Need Bogus Bloggers?I would endeavor that from time to time we have seen generic, unknown faces scroll down the blogroll. Okay, let's cut them some slack and write it off as a newbie that is getting their feet wet here in the rain. But then, another pops up. Then another. Like rabbits, the posts magically multiply before your very eyes. Soon, the entire blogroll is littered with more trash than a beach after a Nor'easter.  Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that ActiveRain was a real estate blogging platform, whose intent and purpose was to promote … (45 comments)

(not so) Wordless Wednesday...Wow! Hump-day already? Where does the time go?  The sun is beginning to inch its way upward on the southern horizon bringing with it warmer days that I have so longed for. Spring has shed its heavy, drab overcoat. Songbirds sing choruses of praise. New life abounds everywhere. Everywhere I look, the landscape has been painted with soft pastels. Even the boys of summer have come out to play…

michaels dig: Unofficial Monthly Blogging Report... - 04/05/11 06:21 AM
Unofficial Monthly Blogging Report...It's that time of the month again. Real estate agents are busy posting the monthly stats on how well their market area fared for the past month. Although I'm not a numbers person, I started tracking daily events mainly out of curiosity. Now some 4 years later, I'm still going through the same routine. Talk about a creature of habit. March's average daily posts were on par with February's. The high volume day was 9 March with 2,207 and low was 26 March with 1259. I did add one slight variation - percentage of participation. All I can … (53 comments)

michaels dig: Instructions... - 04/04/11 03:38 PM
Instructions... Instructions. Those silly pamphlets or booklets that are diligently packed with every product to help consumers protect themselves from bouts of bafoonery. But why bother?  Folks don't read them. Oh sure, they may glance at them. At best, possibly gaze upon the 3x4 poor quality glossies that is generally accompanied by text written in 6 pica or less. Those that are legible, are oftentimes written in language that only a PDH with an advanced degree in nuclear fission can decipher. Then there are the folks that must be clairvoyant. Going through a routine, similar to the skit the late Johnny … (18 comments)

michaels dig: Monday Morning Motivator & Some Points to Ponder... - 04/04/11 06:11 AM

Monday Morning Motivator & Some Points to Ponder… "Somehow I can't believe there are any heights that can't be scaled by a man who knows the secret of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarized in four C's. They are Curiosity, Confidence, Courage, and Constancy and the greatest of these is Confidence. When you believe a thing, believe it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably." ~ Walt Disney I can remember as a kid, listening to Jiminy Cricket croon his his lullaby to Pinocchio. Lying on the cool grass of my south Georgia … (31 comments)

(not so) Speechless Sundae…All is well with my world once again, as yesterday's hitch in the giddy-up is a bad memory.  Habits, routines and addictions are funny things; oxymorons if you will. We realize we have them but tend to either ignore them or laugh them off as if they are really nothing. I knew that I had a set routine every morning - slurp down a big cup of my elixir of life and putz around in the rain. But yesterday, there WAS no rain to be active in. So, I did the next best thing and rummaged through some … (39 comments)

michaels dig: Into ActiveRain, Some Life Must Fall… - 04/02/11 07:36 PM
Into ActiveRain, Some Life Must Fall…What a bummer! Rolling out of bed, I sleepily grope my way down the hall, pour a cup that has just finished brewing and wake the computer that has been resting on its circuits all night. I, like many other ActiveRainer's, Homebod's, Homebru's or whatever woke up to...
That sux. Feeling a bad case of withdrawals setting in, I go back to the kitchen and brew a pot of decoffinated caffeine. Gawd, what's a poor Rainer gonna do? Let's face it folks, there are just some things that go together like 2 peas in a pod … (28 comments)

michaels dig: Friday's Fotos ~ Tips & Cheats… - 04/01/11 06:02 AM
Friday's Fotos ~ Tips & Cheats…Deviating from my norm of posting a photo to the Friday's Fotos Group and the ActiveRain PhotoBloggers Group, today I will share more tips and cheats gleaned from my years of wandering behind the pixels. Many novices think/assume telephoto lenses are synonymous with long distance shots. On the contrary. I often grab longer focal point lenses to photograph flowers in gardens. Longer lenses gives the photographer more flexibility when attempting to "zero in" on subjects especially in public gardens where tip-toeing through the tulips would be highly frowned upon.

Don't be afraid to "get … (32 comments)

michaels dig: Stupid Stuff… - 03/31/11 04:49 PM
Stupid Stuff… Let's face it. It is still a buyer's market. They still sit in the driver's seat with both hands firmly on the wheel that drives this real estate machine. Home inspections are one of the many roads that buyers can go down to either drive down the cost of the property or back out of the purchase altogether.  During the course of the inspection, I often get asked by nervous agents and buyers, "Finding much?" "Just stupid stuff." I often reply with a smile. Stupid stuff. The incompetent, sloppy substandard workmanship that makes one roll their eyes, scratch their … (23 comments)

michaels dig: Thankful Thursday… - 03/31/11 06:09 AM
Thankful Thursday…How many times have we heard that same old tired, worn-out, over-used, over-worked term; "Real estate is local". Well, it is. I don't know what the numbers from GNAR (Greater Nashville Association of Realtors) will be for the month of March, but it has to on par or above as compared to the waning days of last year's <choke> "First time home buyers" fiasco. Both John and I have been very busy this past month. Can we sing a chorus or two of "Hallelujah" Brothers and Sisters? Ah-h-h-h, sing it to me... It's always a good feeling when marketing efforts … (45 comments)
