tennis: Retire in Pinehurst VS the Beach Areas of NC - 08/28/11 10:15 AM
There are many reasons one would want to retire to the Pinehurst area of North Carolina. Among the most popular is of course golf!
One of the reasons that some choose Pinehurst over the beach areas of NC for retirement was highlighted this past weekend by Hurricane Irene.  Here in Pinehurst there were a few brief showers and a bit of wind, but nothing that was damaging or required evacuation. The other benefit to being farther from the beaches is the lower cost of homeowners insurance. Additional wind insurance and possibly flood insurance is required for homes closer to the beach areas and it … (7 comments)

Legacy Lakes tennis facility, 15 minutes from Pinehurst, is having a tennis tournament this weekend. The draws have been made, and the matches begin this afternoon at 4:00.

I believe this is the third annual tournament, and it will continue through Sunday afternoon. There will be a mens doubles draw, a woman's doubles draw, and a mixed doubles draw. First round losers will get to play in a consolation round of play, so all players will play at least 2 matches.

tennis: Tennis is Pinehurst is More Popular Then Some Realize - 11/10/10 05:03 PM
I recently met with a visiting golfer for a quick drink the other evening in Pinehurst and tennis became a topic of conversation.

Of course the reason it came up is because that is my game of choice. (Me, top left). Now I know golf is HUGE here, but because of the short winter season out door sports of any kind are popular. For some reason this visitor was almost shocked at how popular tennis is.
Most of the club courts are clay, and that allows us to play into our older years because it is soft on the knees. … (0 comments)

tennis: Why choose Pinehurst over the coastal NC - 09/02/10 07:24 AM
Even if living with the potential threat of a hurricane hitting your home, the cost of insurance might make the difference in choosing the coast or the beautiful inland resort area of Pinehurst.  Pinehurst doesn't usually get any harmful effects from hurricanes, and we are surrounded by beautiful pines, over 40 golf courses, great tennis facilities, shopping, restaurants, and a short drive to the city of Raleigh. If you or a client is looking to relocate to North Carolina, I'm happy to pay a referral fee if they choose the Pinehurst area.
