Comparing yourself to others is never a good idea and can be downright unhealthy. Comparison doesn't stem from a happy place. If you need to compare yourself to something, look backwards at how you, yourself have changed and the progress you have made on your own.  If you see yourself as better than the subject you are comparing yourself to – you over inflate your ego. If you see yourself as not as well off as the subject you are just hurting yourself, tossing away any work/progress you have made.

This tip reminds me of a Michael Jordan Quote:
