Reno's Triple-A Aces Ballpark, Riverwalk District, Arttown and the city's proximity to abundant outdoor recreation helped catapult Reno onto the top 25 cities for "Best Places to Live 2010," which appears in the April issue of Men's Journal magazine.
The top 25 cities were determined by three variables, including median home price, cost of living compared to the rest of the Unites States and number of sunny days per year.  Reno is featured as tops for "Ski and Climb Without the Crowds," listing Reno's median home price as $274,670, its cost of living as 13 percent higher … (3 comments)

remax complete realty: Sparks, Nevada A City That Has Everything A Family Could Want - 04/11/10 05:25 PM

This past Saturday, I stopped by one of my favorite places, the Sparks Marina Park.  The Reno Association For The Education of Young Children (RAEYC) was having a "Walk and Family Fun Day".  The association was showcasing all the educational opportunities for the children around the city.  There were booths, games, Mother Goose Storytime, a bounce house, crafts and more.  There were families, strollers and as many dogs as their were kids enjoying the day in the park.
We spend the better part of our adult life raising our kids, climbing the career ladder and building our family's future.  When … (0 comments)

remax complete realty: Reno and Sparks Nevada Real Estate, November 2009 - 12/30/09 10:07 PM
Our residential resale housing market remains strong as we move into the typically slower holiday season.  Although there has been a slight seasonal decline with decreases in month-over-month sales, the numbers continue to show a strong year-over-year increase in sales volume.  Median sales prices only slightly dropped continuing the flat pricing trend that we have seen over the past six months.  We anticipate steady sales moving through the holidays and into the first quarter 2010, with buyers responding to the extension and expansion of the home-buyer tax credit and exceptionally affordable interest rates.
SALES:
November ended the month with 451 sold … (0 comments)

remax complete realty: Fernley, Nevada Real Estate Reductions in Assessed Valuations (Again) - 12/14/09 12:02 PM
Mike Glass, Lyon County Assessor said that "after major reductions in assessed valuation figures last year on property in Lyon County, there will be more of the same for next year"
Mr. Glass presented the Lyon County Commissioners with information from single family residence sales through June 30, 2009, and value factors that would be used in determining the assessed valuations of land for fiscal year 2010-11.
The lower assessed valuation figures don't result in property tax bill reductions in that same amount as the state's growth cap on assessed values of 3 percent (residential) and 8 percent (commercial and multi-residential) … (0 comments)

remax complete realty: Fernley, Nevada Lyon County's "Shop With a Sheriff" For The Children - 12/14/09 11:29 AM
The 2nd annual "Shop With A Sheriff" was held Saturday, December 12th at the Fernley Wal*Mart.
The goal was to raise $1000 to take 10 children and let them spend $100 each.  I sponsored a child for $100, so I wanted to be there when the kids went shopping.
The red balloons tied to a shopping cart was the key indicator, along with a uniformed Deputy tagging along.  The children varied in age and there was at least one family member along to help the child with selections and advice.
Thanks to our Lyon County Sheriff's office for taking the time to help … (3 comments)

On November 5, 2009, Fannie Mae introduced a new program designed to minimize family displacement, deterioration of neighborhoods caused by vandalism and theft to vacant homes, and the effect these have on families, communities and home price stabilization.
Called "Deed-for-Lease" (D4L) allows qualifying borrowers of properties transferred through deed-in-lieu (DIL) of foreclosure to remain in their home and community by executing a lease of up to 12 months in conjunction with a DIL.  Investment properties that are tenant-occupied may also be considered as long as the borrower is cooperative in providing information from the tenant to facilitate the D4L.

remax complete realty: Fernley, Nevada Why Do Homebuyers Choose To Live Here? - 11/04/09 11:15 PM

Located 32 miles east of Reno on Interstate 80, where 80 meets U.S. Highway 50 and U.S. Alternate 95. Our population is approximately 18,000 and the landscape is mostly desert with the mountains as a backdrop.
The town was established in the early 1900's,  we incorporated and became a city in 2001.  Since then, a lot of changes have come our way, but we still remain the family oriented small town that drew most of its current residents.
We have bright blue skies almost year-round, 4 seasons and mild winters.  An abundance of recreational opportunities and in close proximity are Pyramid Lake and Lake Lahontan … (0 comments)
