living in las vegas: Las Vegas Day Trip - A Jackass Welcome in this Town - Oatman, AZ - 05/26/14 03:33 PM
For an interesting Las Vegas Day Trip, yes, a Jackass is welcome in this town of Oatman, AZ. Many of them visit each day, taking over the main street. The shopkeepers even know them by name, and the names of their offspring. No one seems to mind if they panhandle for food among the shoppers and apparently encourage it. If they should get a bit too rowdy, the store owners might give them a quick spray of water to get them to back off a bit.

Oddly enough, the residents of this town actually need these wild asses for their own … (4 comments)

living in las vegas: David Perrico's Pop Evolution Band a Vegas Secret, Best in Live Music - 01/26/14 03:39 PM
David Perrico's Pop Evolution Band, a Vegas Secret, appears on select Tuesdays at the Stratosphere Hotel & Casino Theater. It is Live Music at it's best, with an amazing 20 piece band.   Now don't get the impression that this is a simply a swing or jazz band from your parents or grandparents age.  The 'Pop Evolution' name will give you your first clue. As the Big Bands have played the popular music of their times, this band has evolved to create much more contemporary music. You'll hear  songs from Rush, Sting, Heart, Van Halen, Motley Crue, Foreigner, India Arie, Britney Spears, Cee Lo, and Chicago. … (0 comments)

Rock Vault - Best show in Vegas to me! Hey, don't take my word for it, that was a comment from a 24 year old, and echoed from so many of our guests, friends, and clients of all ages who have seen this show. Awesome, amazing, outstanding, are among the many other positive adjectives that follow the performance. For fans of Classic Rock, Raiding the Rock Vault is a Vegas show you'll surely want to see. It's performed by Rockstars who have played with some of the greatest bands of the era.

living in las vegas: Nicolas Cage Video - Las Vegas Celebrities in the Community - 12/14/12 02:39 AM

Nicolas Cage and his family are among the many celebrities that have relocated to Las Vegas.  Like so many who have moved here, from the stars and executives to just ordinary folks, the question from others is often ..."Why?"  After all, it's Sin City!  That's no place to raise a family.  Well I think if you can see beyond the neon as Nicolas has, you'll find out there's much more to Las Vegas, but this side of it just doesn't have the catchy marketing and slogans, or it's reality anywhere near how it's often portrayed in movies or on TV. … (3 comments)

I've posted in the past that there are so many entertainers and celebrities living in Las Vegas, it makes it such a unique place to live. You never know who you might run into, or turn out to be a friend or neighbor. Donny and Marie Osmond have been a huge hit headlining at the Flamingo and have had contract extensions because of it, and Marie has made her home here in Henderson. Actually she's in the process of moving into her new home, which is still close to my parents. My folks made the move here … (4 comments)

living in las vegas: Domenick Allen is "All about the Music" in Las Vegas - 12/18/10 03:09 AM

Click for Full Screen Slideshow My last post was about Las Vegas local Domenick Allen's 'Vinyl' Rock Show at Hard Rock Cafe on the Strip. The event, sponsored by Cadillac of Las Vegas, benefited the USMC Toys for Tots. It was an absolutely amazing show, and for such a great cause. It even had this thumbs up from Broadway World the day before, so I'd have to say they already knew the quality of the performance to come. The show was also webcast live by Tour TV and you can watch it here with Part 1 and Part 2.

living in las vegas: Manilow New Vegas Home at Paris @ParisVegas - $27M Lou Ruvo Cleveland Clinic - 03/09/10 07:42 PM

After a nearly 5 year run at the Las Vegas Hilton, Barry Manilow has made his cross town move to Paris Las Vegas (Twitter @ParisVegas). This will be Manilow's Las Vegas Home for at least the next 2 years, and a new show based on the recently released "The Greatest Love Songs of All Time". Here's a sample on YouTube from J Arista Records.
This totally revamped production uses all new state of the art computerized lighting and effects, said to have never been used before. Unfortunately, just before the Friday premier, a power surge caused damage to the … (2 comments)

Even though the country and the world is still pulling itself out of this economic downturn, there has been some positives. Home buyers have found affordable properties, and the same is true for Tim Arnold's Pinball Hall of Fame.
Late last year Tim was able to purchase a building at 1610 E. Tropicana Ave., closer to the Strip, just before the Liberace Museum. You can find out more about Tim, our Las Vegas "Pinball Millionaire", and his original location here in my previous post.
The new Las Vegas home to Pinball is twice the size of the previous … (4 comments)

living in las vegas: Las Vegas 51's Baseball - Cashman Field - Picture Tour - 08/09/09 08:38 PM

The Las Vegas 51's are the Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, and play in the Pacific Coast League. Their games are played in downtown Las Vegas at Cashman Field, adjoining the Cashman Convention Center on Las Vegas Blvd.
If you follow my blog, the center is where Mirage Headliner Terry Fator opened the USBC Championship Bowling. Yes, there are 'Other' things to do in Las Vegas, and the 51's are another reason why it's such a great place to call home.

The field provides an intimate setting to enjoy the games up close and personal. Parking is … (2 comments)

living in las vegas: Lake Mead Boating Picture Tour - 07/26/09 08:04 PM

Hidden away on just the other side of that big pile of rocks on the eastern edge of the Las Vegas Valley is the largest man-made lake in the United States, Lake Mead. It's located within the 1.5 million acre Lake Mead Recreation Area, the first national recreation area in the country.

The Lake was formed by the completion of Hoover Dam in 1936 to control flooding on the Colorado River, harness it's power for electricity generation, and as a water reservoir for the southwestern states. At capacity, the lake has 550 miles of shoreline … (2 comments)

living in las vegas: Le Reve - Wynn - Encore Las Vegas Pictures and Video - Living in Las Vegas - 05/22/09 06:31 PM

I've posted about the benefits of living in Las Vegas. With all the recreation and entertainment right in your back yard, it makes it easy to slip away for a quick vacation. Even with being rather busy I was able to take a quick break with some out-of-town guests.

Click for Larger Image
This trip was to Wynn, and it's adjoining sister property that opened this past December, Encore Las Vegas. While I've always enjoyed Steve Wynn's first hotel that opened in 2005, I'll have to say he outdid himself with this one. The vivid reds throughout, the butterflies, natural … (2 comments)

living in las vegas: Boulder City, NV 24th Annual Fine Arts Festival - Pictures of Bicentennial Park - 04/22/09 02:30 AM

This past weekend I posted about my trip on the Southern Nevada Railway train ride. Afterwards we headed over to the 24th Annual Boulder City Fine Arts Festival to enjoy the art and the food. The 2 day event was held in Bicentennial Park in the downtown area of the city.
I've also posted about Boulder City before, with it's quaint small town charm that is a sharp contrast to the big city lights and expansion of Las Vegas. While it has the largest land area of any city in Nevada, it's growth is limited by restrictions on building permits and … (2 comments)

living in las vegas: Las Vegas Train Rides - Nevada Southern Railway Boulder City Picture Tour - 04/20/09 04:44 AM

Many visitors think of living in Las Vegas as the 'Wild Life'. Their brief stop at a very small 4.5 mile 'Strip' of land often gives them a limited view of all that Las Vegas has to offer, and there is much more. Yes, you can experience the other wildlife found in and around the valley. From what you might find in the luxury homes of McDonald Highlands, to this guy on my trip to Boulder City to ride the rails.

living in las vegas: Knight Rider Festival Las Vegas - Pictures of the Cars and Stars on Fremont Street - 03/21/09 06:25 AM

The first Knight Rider Festival in Las Vegas kicked off tonight at downtown's Fremont Street Experience. It was created by local musician, Elvis impersonator, and owner of the Las Vegas General Lee, Paul Casey.
With still being very busy, we were still able to make it just in time for the opening ceremonies for the 2 day event. Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman was on hand to present the city's proclamation for this new charity event that benefits Children's Miracle Network.
It's free to the public, including entertainment provided by Paul and some of the Knight Rider cast members. On … (4 comments)

Living in Las Vegas has a number of perks, and Vegas locals specials are one of them. Or just being here when any show simply runs a discount. The holidays are almost upon us, and that's a time when you usually have some show specials. living in las vegas: Terry Fator - America's Got Talent in Las Vegas - Jerry Springer, Neal E. Boyd & Top Finalists Visit - 10/16/08 04:27 AM
Tonight I caught Terry Fator's sold out show at the Las Vegas Hilton, and it's no wonder why it was packed. Terry was last year's million dollar winner of 'America's Got Talent', and if you caught him performing there, you can just imagine how amazing his live show really is. Backed by an excellent band, Terry performs nonstop with a very smooth blend of his unique ventriloquism, not only with incredible singing impressions, but his own genuine personality and flair for comedy. He is truly a unique and enjoyable performer.

His down to earth style connects well with the audience, … (4 comments)

living in las vegas: Donny & Marie - Flamingo Las Vegas New Home for Osmonds - 10/01/08 04:07 AM
The last few days have been hectic with me having so many people in town, but tonight I had a chance for a quick escape at a new show. Donny and Marie Osmond have opened at the Flamingo Hilton, and after seeing tonight's performance it's no wonder they were sold out on a Tuesday night. They were absolutely fantastic, performing an energetic and entertaining show, and were in touch with their audience with their down to earth appeal. It's no surprise that they received two standing ovations for the performance that covered both of their long careers. As you can see … (17 comments)

living in las vegas: Las Vegas Train Rides and Santa Train - Boulder City Nevada Southern Railway - 09/23/08 04:37 AM
I mentioned the Nevada Southern Railway in a blog about the quaint town to the southeast of the Las Vegas Valley... Boulder City, NV. It lies just beyond Railroad Pass, and where our Dam Neighbors live. Yes this is the town born from 1930's Hoover Dam, and still has it's 'Mayberry' style charm and remains gambling free to this day. This is where the Nevada State Railroad museum operates it's rides on the Boulder Branch Spur of track used in the building of the man made wonder that created Lake Mead.
This museum began in 1996 with a maintenance facility, and … (5 comments)
