THING 58 – Drive down Greenwich Avenue when it is lit up

There are few things I remember more vividly about Greenwich than the Greenwich Avenue lit up through the holidays. It’s a great time of the year to take a drive down the avenue. I’m not very elegant with my words, so I’ll leave the similes to the poets.
Per the Greenwich Time, it looks like we are actually very lucky to have a lit up avenue this year. For those of you in the generous spirit, this might be a worthy … (0 comments)

THING 57 – Be Wise about your Wine in Greenwich

Yeah, that’s a horrible tagline I came up with, but hopefully you’ll remember the store (WineWise). If you are looking for white zinfandel (booooo) or something in a box (yeahhhh) this isn’t your place. WineWise is a boutique wine shop focused on small production wines that you’ll have a hard time finding elsewhere. They do not deal high-volume, discount store wine. The store is great and has a constantly changing selection of wines from all around the globe. To those of us who … (0 comments)

THING 56 – Jingle Bell Jog in Greenwich

For those of you nuts out there, there will be a Jingle Bell Jog in downtown Greenwich this Sunday. I’m posting this blog early as you might want to take it easy on the drinking this weekend and set your alarm early for Sunday morning. The start is at 23 Church Street (around the corner from Threads & Treads – sponsor) at 9am. I’m sure I’ll be awake with my 1yr old daughter, but I’ll be warm and cozy! Good luck to everyone. Here’s the … (1 comments)

greenwich ct real estate: I finally found my realtor website address!! - 12/10/10 04:02 PM
As some of you are aware, I've been spending a couple months trying to figure out what I want to put together for a local webpage.  My intentions have been to create a community webpage for clients and locals to play around with.  At the suggestion of an Active Rain member, I started Greenwich365.com where I post a new thing to do in Greenwich, CT every day.  I'm still staying on with that, but I have combined it into a better page! With some creative searching and spending of coin, I got hold of www.GreenwichCT.com.  I hope to create a blogging … (3 comments)

THING 54 – Buy Your Luminaries

Fundraisers are cool, but you end up spending all night talking to people you either see every day or people you have no interest in talking to. I’m a fan of raising money for well deserving causes and appreciate original ways to get people to contribute. Over the past 17 years, the Center for HOPE and The Den for Grieving Kids has been selling luminaries and promoting outdoor flames. I’m sure these little bags are safe, but there is always something nice about lighting a little fire.

I’m not sure that this picture depicts what they were thinking when GreenDrinks.org started, but it works for me. Come on, doesn’t that look tasty! Anyhow, tonight at Le Pain Quotidien Greenwich Green Drinks will be hosting its lil cocktail event. The Greenwich Conservation Director, Denise Savageau, will be in attendance. I have some serious greening up to do (love my car, don’t know the size of my footprint), but for those of you who know how to recycle just about everything, thank you and enjoy … (2 comments)

Saks is hosting a gathering for the Greenwich Newcomers Society (www.greenwichnewcomerssociety.com) tonight and I thought it would be worth writing about. I don’t know much about the Newcomer’s Society, but it seems like a neat organization for anyone that wants to learn more about the town. I’m in the process of talking to Greg Kraut to learn more myself, but if anyone out there has had any experience with the group please feel free to speak up.

Because I’m convinced that President Bartlett is a real person, I’m a big fan of anything that was named after him. Clearly the Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens was built in dedication to him…. Anyhow, if you have some time, money, creative juice and are willing to travel outside of Greenwich (just one town over, don’t worry) then you should take a look at the Wreath Making Class at the Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens in Stamford, CT.

Here’s another event I probably won’t make it to, though I thought many of my readers and some of my relatives might enjoy. I gather there is a real history behind the paper theater. The write up on Bruce’s website talks about how all the stages have mirrored great city locations, such as London, Paris, Berlin, Vienna and Copenhagen.
