home stagers: Yesterday my 20 year old neighbor told me she was diagnosed with narcolepsy...............

The information provided here is startling:
Narcolepsy Fact Sheet: National Institute of Neurological Disorders ...
We have probably all known a child or family member that we thought was lazy or just not paying attention.
Narcolepsy is a chronic disorder of the central nervous system characterized by the brain's inability to control sleep-wake cycles. At various times throughout the day, people with narcolepsy experience irresistible and sudden bouts of sleep, which can last from a few seconds to several minutes.
Contrary to common beliefs, people with narcolepsy do not spend a substantially greater proportion of their time asleep during a 24-hour period

How would you have handled this call?
"I can't believe it's been over six months since I've heard from you!"
"If I knew who this was, maybe I could tell you why that is................"
"You don't know who this is? It's been that long? It's (fill in the name)"
"Oh, so did you call to scream at me?"
"Did you call to scream at me? If you did, I'm going to hang up."
"DON'T YOU DARE HANG UP ON ME!"
That's how I handled it!

Yesterday's post It's costing me for the privilege of having my car stolen. was about waiting and how much I hate the "hurry up and wait" game. Well I can hate it all I want, but that's exactly what I'm going to be doing today.
Since I already sent the registration, title and keys for my car to the adjuster, she has to send them back to me so I can go pick up my car in Cincinnati. Yesterday afternoon she called and said she would overnight

Richard Weisser wrote this post today How many hours a day do we spend “waiting?” and it is so timely for me. As most of you know, my car was stolen when I was in Cincinnati visiting my friends Ellen and Mike. After talking to the insurance adjuster early last week, she told me she was sending me a packet of forms to fill out. They arrived on Thursday of last week. Of course, being as efficient as I am, I filled them out immediately, had them notarized on Friday morning and dropped them in the mail along with the registration, title and

Wednesday morning again..........time for the TRUTH!
But first, the reminders:
1. I once weighed 245 pounds from eating all the pork and beef growing up, but went on a major exercise diet and am back down to my stable weight of 165-170!
2. I was born in November 1960 and we had so much snow on the ground that I was actually born in a barn on the farm I grew up on, I think that's why I don't like milk that much and have been able to maintain an average weight of 185 ...very few people know this and I

How about you?
Will you be our "Star Of The Week"?

- 02/26/12 07:15 AM
Something made me think of Shirley Bassey yesterday, so I went to YouTube and listened to a few of her"classics". This is one of my favorites.
Not only is she still lovely at 75, but what a voice and marvelous talent!
Even if you don't listen to her performance, read the lyrics to the amazing song "This Is My Life".
Funny how a lonely day, can make a person say: What good is my lifeFunny how a breaking heart, can make me start to say: What good is my lifeFunny how I often seem, to think I'll find

Good New? Bad News? I don't know............but news!
Late yesterday afternoon I got a phone call from the Cincinnati Police..........my car has been recovered.
Is this good new or bad news? I have no idea, and no one could tell me anything. They gave me the name of the towing company that towed my car, so I called them. Yes, they towed the car to an impound lot. I asked if they could tell me the condition of the car and they had no idea. They suggested I show up at the impound lot Monday morning at 8

Last night I went out to dinner with a friend. Got home, commented on a few posts and went to bed around midnight. This morning I woke up at 4 a.m................truly not enough rest, but I couldn't go back to sleep. I logged on to AR and commented on a few more posts had some breakfast and around 8:30 crawled back into bed.
Yowza..........I had three hideous nightmares in that short time I was asleep.
The first was a dream that the husband of one of my good friends had died. I sent her a text message when

After my lucky streak, Ron won two weeks in a row. Five weeks without a win for Mickey..............OY!
Well last night, the tables were turned. Mickey kicked our A$$es............it was a landslide victory of her.

One Sunday afternoon a couple sees an ad in the paper. They can't believe their eyes. There is a house in the paper for $1000 that is in the nicest part of town. We are talking about a Highland Park mansion for $1000. They think this has to be a misprint, but decide to call anyway. They say to lady who answers we saw your ad, and realize it is a misprint correct. She tells

I guess our "affair" had to end sooner or later. Early last evening I was checking my e-mail and got a notification that someone had commented on my latest post. As I clicked on my Home Page with much anticipation and a heaviness in my heart, the reality hit me..........
I was no longer going be waking up with you every morning as I have been for the last five days.

- 02/22/12 03:34 AM
Looks like my BARFF had most of you stumped yesterday with her "Two Lies And A Truth"
1. My favorite meal is chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, cream gravy with Iced tea to be followed by peach cobbler.
2. I could eat fish 3 times a week and never get tired of it!
3. I don't like breakfast and never eat it. Just give me a cup of coffee
Well, believe it or not, the answer is #1. I'd say she did quite well with the three options. Thanks for participating BARFF, you

Here we are again, Tuesday morning. Weigh in day for Take It Off In The Rain members, along with my Featured Guest and "Two Lies And A Truth".
Before we get to my Featured Guest, it's time for me to weigh in. It's not pretty! Last week I weighed in at 191.8 pounds, I was doing so well. This week was rather stressful with having my car stolen (I know, an excuse), and after spending the weekend with Mike and Ellen in Cincinnati. Mike is such an excellent cook and prepared some wonderful meals for us. I'm weighing in this

Originally my plan was to leave Cincinnati at around 9:00 a.m. this morning. I've been here since Friday afternoon and had a great time. Well, plans have changed.
Yesterday we had plans to do a little antiquing in Waynesville. As we were pulling out of the parking garage, I glanced over to the lot where my car was parked..................
IT WAS GONE!
Yep, my car has been stolen. Our little jaunt to Waynesville was delayed while I filled out an incident report at the building where Ellen and Mike live and a police report.
So I'm not real sure when I'm
home stagers: Do you ever get tired of Mimi Foster? I'm having a hard time deciding................
- 02/19/12 06:44 AM
For the past few days I've been asking myself "are you tired of Mimi Foster yet?"
So far, I'd have to say no, I am not, but I'm not quite sure how long that will last. Don't get me wrong, I like Mimi. She's a great lady. She's fun, very professional, caring and can make you laugh and cry all within the same post, but there has to come a point when you get tired of a good thing. I'm almost there.
You see, ever since the upgrades on ActiveRain, I've been "stuck" with Mimi Foster on my Home

Just a quick "in and out" of Cincinnati
Ellen and Mike are having a little soiree tomorrow night and I've been invited. I also volunteered to help them out getting set up for their guests. So I'm hopping in my car tomorrow morning and heading to Cincinnati. Once again, no time to meet up with BLiz, but I know we will again.
Can't decide whether I'm coming home on Saturday or Sunday, we'll see how it plays out. But this is the building where they live. Not such a bad place to spend the weekend.

The reminder of the "Two Lies And A Truth" submitted by Didi Doolitlle:
1. The holidays were a whirlwind of eating naughty foods and drinking adult bevies and I gained 6 pounds over the holiday weeks! Ugh!
2. The holidays were crazy and with all my running around I managed to drop 5 pounds over Christmas. Unfortunately, that 5 came back after an indulgent New Year’s Eve weekend celebration. So technically I rocked steady.
3. I hit the gym hard over the holiday weeks to
