NH Home Stager's Fast & Easy Cabinet Makeover - Dry Brush Technique
I recently transformed some cabinets to give my laundry room a new look, and I was pleasantly surprised at just how easy and FAST the project was.
Those of you who follow my blog know that we just moved into a house that "didn't need a thing" and yet I keep finding things to improve and rooms to transform.
The laundry room was ok.  It had wire shelves that I knew I wanted to replace "some day" but for now the only expense was going to be buying … (36 comments)

updating your new home: A Dated Front Door Is Like Gray Hair On Your House - Color It! - 04/27/12 05:09 AM
As a New Hampshire Home Stager I've seen many prematurely gray homes....older than their years.
Is your front door showing it's age?  It's time for a color!
I'm here to tell you that you shouldn't be afraid to paint wood.   For many people painting over wood is considered blasphemy, but not all wood is created equal.
Oak is dated and an oak front door is like gray hair on your house.

Paint the front door!  It really doesn't matter whether you go vibrant or play it safe, or whether you choose a color based on Feng Shui or fashion trends.

New Hampshire Home Stager, Transforming My New Home - Grandkids' Bedroom
A couple of months ago I wrote a post, The New Hampshire Home Stager Bait & Switch, which started this series sharing photos from the transformation of my new home.
In case you missed it:  Dining Room,  Living Room, Master Bed & Bath, Kitchen, Built-In Bookcases, Powder Room

The grandkids' bedroom needed some minor wall patching, new paint and had a dated gold light fixture.

  The room was yellow.
We painted it a soft, warm green...Ben Moore Urban Nature AF-440

The carpet is navy.  Not loving it...but it's in good condition … (29 comments)

In a recent post, The New Hampshire Home Stager Bait & Switch, I promised to share photos from the transformation of my new home.
In case you missed it:  Dining Room,  Living Room, Master Bed & Bath, Kitchen, Built-In Bookcases

The Powder Room is one of my favorite transformations in the house.  It started out mint green...no mirror...in need of new light fixtures...

Much thought went into the wall finish for the Powder Room.  We considered paper, wood, tile, and various flooring materials for the walls.  We ultimately chose Venetian Plaster.

One of the more dramatic improvements we've made so far is in the family room.
One thing that drives me crazy is lots of exposed wires.  We've always housed our TV's in armoires for that reason...to hide all the wires and "stuff".
Making the decision to mount our tv to the wall in this house … (26 comments)

The kitchen has been painted and we've made a few small changes, but it's not done.
We will eventually replace the counters and tile the backsplash, but not until we can decide exactly what we want.  We are still looking at options.
Here's what we've done so far.....

In a recent post, The New Hampshire Home Stager Bait & Switch, I promised to share photos from the transformation of my new home.
In case you missed it:  Dining Room,  Living Room

The Master Bedroom is beautiful and spacious.  Color was the only issue.
Both the Master Bedroom and Bath were PINK.

The Master Bathroom probably needed the most work.
One thing it was lacking was storage space...there is no closet.
One thing it was not lacking...mirrors!

The wall of mirrors had … (28 comments)

New Hampshire Home Stager, Transforming My New Home - Living Room
In a recent post, The New Hampshire Home Stager Bait & Switch, I promised to share photos from the transformation of my new home.
In case you missed it....Dining Room

One of the things that first impressed me about this house is the wall of windows in the Living Room....directly across from the front door.

This is one of the rooms that I previously described as being " so very white".
To warm it up, I chose Ben Moore Thunder AF-685
I love this color!  Depending on the … (40 comments)

New Hampshire Home Stager, Transforming My New Home - Dining Room In a recent post, The New Hampshire Home Stager Bait & Switch, I promised to share photos from the transformation of my new home.
First decision was paint colors.  I prefer keeping it simple, limiting the home to only a couple of colors.
I knew I wanted to use one of my favorite colors, Ben Moore Stampede 979, in several rooms.  I chose Ben Moore Thunder AF-685 as a complimentary color for most of the remaining rooms.

Our first project was adding some warmth and sophistication to the Dining Room.
