Every time we disparage the state of the economy and talk about the terrible state of real estate, we create a self fulfilling prophesy. In business, it is hard to succeed with a hidden agenda. Most folks understand this and most clients feel it when their agent, inspector, stagger or lender seems to be operating at cross purposes. It's easy really, either you put your client first or you don't. I used to have a broker who...

Sometimes dreams are easy and happy, sometimes not so much. Do you dream about situations or people? Can you predict how your dreams will influence your actions? Experts indicate that there are no certainties when it comes to dreams but patterns can be important. For years I had a dream about mis...

It seems to me that the more things change, the more they stay the same. Tammy White wrote a post about losing a listing to someone who told the seller what they were happy to accept: they could get more and do less and they opted for it. Often the simplest questions are the hardest to explain.  The home buying process is fraught with all kinds of roadblocks and just when you think it is all done, things happen. This afternoon I spent at Tanglewood. It was a Boston Pops Concert with Jason Alexander. The weather threatened all day and I was worried about a storm spoiling the performance and reducing the lawn patrons. When thunder and lightening is forecast the lawn is cleared and the concert is different....

The difference between a house and a home has as much to do with the warmth you feel as the function it serves. Anyone can buy or rent a house, but special people can make a home in a garage or in basement. It is the art of making a space work by making it yours that gives a room or a a place a f...

Tanglewood is calling. I am going later today to "Greet" the crowds who will be there for Jason Alexander and the Boston Pops. Did you know that Jason is a singer, a Broadway guy, and a personality as well as that Seinfeld character? Well he is, and I hope the weather holds long enough ...

Every once in awhile I have a day when I stare at the screen and think, what can I talk about. And then, almost from nowhere an idea comes. Generally speaking all I have to do is stop pushing and think of my day and a topic appears. So don't sweat it when you blank. Relax, take a breath and y...
