In first quarter 2010, there were 909 homes sold compared to 1055 sold in first quarter 2011. According to an article on May 13, 2011 in The Washington Post foreclosures in the Washington DC area including Maryland have slowed to the lowest point since the beginning of the financial crisis in 2008.  According the Post's analysis, the number of homes entering foreclosure was down 56% but 6,200 homes still went to foreclosure in the first quarter of 2011.
