friends: Thankful Thursday, 8/23/12 - 08/23/12 07:42 AM
I have many friends in all areas of my life and I am so grateful for the support and laughter that these women (and some dear men) supply every day.  I am never farther than the reach of my phone or my computer to the comfort and support that friends provide.  A funny joke, a frantic email about wardrobe malfunctions, sharing a meal and a bottle of wine, commiserating over life's problems.  Friends are the backbone of a woman's life.
You've Got to Have Friends

friends: Thankful Thursday, a toast to International Women's Day! - 03/08/12 07:02 AM
I'd like to make a toast to women!  In my humble opinion, we make the world go around.  Most of the softer, kinder, warmer things that fill our world, women are responsible for.  Don't get me wrong, men are wonderful, but the niceties in life are usually provided by or taught to men, by women.
My mom is a wonderful example of womanhood.  She worked through my entire childhood.  She then came home and made dinner and most importantly, made time for my sister and me.  She had a very difficult life with my dad and yet she was never harsh … (20 comments)

friends: Thankful Thursday, 10/6/11 - 10/06/11 08:16 PM

I was working on my computer at my home office yesterday and felt a hand on my back. When I turned, I realized it was our "Little Girl Cat", Dani.  The touch on my back was startling because I was alone at the time, but seeing this little face looking for a little loving made me realize it was the perfect time to take a break from work.  What better way to do that than to cuddle an animal, walk a favored dog or have a cup of tea with a friend.
My home will never be the neatest … (12 comments)

friends: Clients often become friends and family - 06/14/11 01:51 PM
I had the pleasure of working with a retired couple a few years ago.  I first met them when they called me to see one of my listings and we hit it off immediately.  They are about my mom's age and I am very attached to them.  I listed their home in East Goshen and sold them a home in an over 55 community.  I stop by to see them periodically and call to say hi, and they often call me to see how I'm doing.
Their son just had open heart surgery.  They called to tell me about it and … (21 comments)

friends: The Art of Racing in the Rain, A book Review - 10/30/10 10:00 AM
The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein My rating: 5 of 5 stars An Active Rain friend, Rich Iarossi,  was kind enough to mail me this book.  Rich is a fellow Italian, A dog lover, a reader and a great Realtor in Crofton, MD.  I called to thank him and his response was that when he finished it he wondered who he knew that both loves dogs and loves to read! He said I was top of the list. This is a wonderful book and just reinforces what I've learned in the two years since I have been … (21 comments)

friends: For the Love of my Friends - 09/12/10 11:53 AM
I recently read an article in More Magazine (yes, I am now old enough to recieve a magazine for women of a certain age).  The article, written by Sally Koslow is about friendships; how to make them, why some don't last and how it's okay to let some go.  In the article Sally says she read that the average person replaces half her friends every seven years.  She had a hard time believing it until she sat down and thought back on her life.  I did too, but there are some friendships that aren't supposed to last.  Some friends are for … (11 comments)

friends: Thankful Thursday, 1/7/10 Social Networking can be a Lifesaver! - 01/07/10 08:23 AM
I am having a colonoscopy tomorrow.  So today, Thursday, 1/7/10, I am trying to be thankful on an empty stomach!  I can only eat clear broth and tea without milk and ice pops with no red or purple dye.  Woo hoo!  Can hardly wait for lunch!  I thought I should write my Thankful Thursday post before I start drinking the Magnesium Citrate because after that, I may be hard pressed to find something to be thankful for!
As some of you know, my 13 year old begged and pleaded to go snowboarding with a friend of mine.  Being an Italian/American mom, … (41 comments)

friends: Thankful Thursday, 11/12/09 - 11/12/09 06:49 AM
The alarm went off, as it usually does at 6:27 this morning.  I have only recently started letting my little dog JJ sleep in my bed with me.  I roll over to quiet the music and JJ stretches, does a jaw cracking yawn and then licks my face.  Not being a morning person used to mean never having to smile that early, but I can't help it.  No matter what the day will bring, I know that it won't be all bad if the day started with a doggie kiss.
Dog, woman and cranky cat saunter into the hall and dog … (26 comments)

friends: I never thought I'd need a food taster! - 01/30/09 08:26 PM
This is one of those meandering things that just happens every now and again, the two things are not related, but they both tickled my funny bone.
PART I
I have a friend who has money.  He owns a strip mall and had a tenant, let's say they were jewelers for lack of something more imaginative.  So the tenant and the owner, my friend, became sort of friends.  The tenants are now citizens of this great country, but they started out life somewhere where the laws are just a bit more loosey goosey than they are here.  The tenants decide that … (32 comments)

friends: I love eccentric people! - 10/09/08 04:06 PM
I was walking my puppy last night, under cover of darkness.
Honestly, if you passed me on the street, you wouldn't recognize me!  I had my glasses on... only close friends get to see me in my real glasses (reading glasses are one thing but I am very, very near-sighted and believe me, it's not a pretty picture).  I had on pink striped pajama bottoms.  I had on black athletic socks that were washed and put in the foyer because they belonged to my son's best friend (since my feet were cold, and he left them here... finders keepers!).  I had … (76 comments)

friends: Because you have to have friends..... - 04/07/08 09:51 PM
This is a tough business.  It can be very good to you, or you can feel like you've been run over by a bus-load of seniors heading to the casino!  Having good, solid friends can make the difference between a bad day, and a day from hell.  I have been very lucky in life with friends.  I have friends that I see everyday.  I have friends that I see very rarely.  But in each case, I love them like family.  My mom is my best friend.
This little blue eyed woman is the reason I am who I am today.  We look … (12 comments)
