fun: Colorado Springs Parks Provide Lots of Winter Fun - 02/08/14 07:04 AM
inSharToday the snow is falling heavily in Colorado Springs and while this makes me want to just curl up on the couch with coffee or hot chocolate.
On the other side, the thick layer of the white snow also makes me want to go outside, and play in it. Lucky for me, there are plenty opportunities to do just that. You can take a wintry snow hike in the many  in Colorado Springs’ Parks.
A special mention to these Parks:
Bear Creek Cañon 501 Bear Creek Rd. Picnicking, mountain biking/trails. 765.6 acres.

fun: Pinterest Inspired Christmas Decor - 12/14/12 10:18 PM
Recently I was inspired by this photo on Pinterest to make some sort of seasons greetings for a large empty wall space in my house.                                              I am not much of an instruction reader so I determined that I could use some small canvas frames that I had recently bought on sale, some of my kids' poster paint and painters tape. I quickly noticed that I had to improvise, since I did not have enough canvas to actually make a "Merry Christmas". I simply had to be content … (3 comments)

I can’t believe it’s already that time of year: It’s time to get your christmas tree cuttin’ permits.
Just like every year -  so good to see that some things DON’T change!!
It’s a tradition in our family. A permit costs $10 per tree and you can get a pretty decent tree, especially if you go early in the season. Can you see ours on the blue truck?! Yeah. We have high ceilings and especially my ‘boys’ are determined to utilize every inch of that space.
Permits go on sale November 26th through December 12th. Simply go

fun: Lodging in Ouray - Hotel Recommendation - 08/27/12 04:31 PM
In July we took off a few days to explore Colorado a little more. Among other things it took us to to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison and then to Ouray. I was excited as I had heard so much about it - hence i was really curious. At the entrance of town we stopped at the tourist information center to get quick information on lodging. We decided on a medium priced hotel with hot springs hot tubs: Box Canyon Lodge. The rooms were modest but clean and the staff was friendly. Look at the pictures below. We had separate … (3 comments)

fun: Black Canyon of the Gunnison a well kept secret - 08/24/12 09:04 AM
So you didn't make it to the Grand Canyon this year, how about something closer to home but still impressive? Take the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. The canyon located between Gunnison and Montrose and is in total 48 miles long and about 9 miles wide. Of those 48 miles 14 miles are protected as a National Park. I thought it was interesting that this only happened in 1999. Before that it was 'only' a National Forrest. There is a 7 mile scenic route with several outlooks at the top. Its not as crowded as the Grand Canyon, smaller, but still breath taking. … (5 comments)

I know, y'all have been dying to hear what I did this weekend, right?

Though I have been working weekends a lot this year, seems that our weekends are starting to finally get into gear again, literally. This weekend my husband and I participated in the Rampart Range Spring Poker Run.

First of all: What's a Poker Run? You can find Poker Runs for all sports. It's a non competitive event in which not the fastest participant wins but the luckiest. At the end of your 'race' or tour, you will go up to the tent … (6 comments)

fun: Colorado Day Trip: Winter Fun in Breckenridge - 12/06/11 01:05 PM

Breckenridge, Colorado. A cute and serene town. It’s about 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours away from Colorado Springs. Whether you are ready to escape the Springs’ heat in the summer time or are looking for an early taste of winter, Breck (as the locals call it) is the perfect place.
There is a Main Street with lots of shops or window shopping and a pedestrian zone with more shopping opportunities - the town has a great flair.

This past weekend our family of five  just spend a day in Breck to have fun in the snow. … (0 comments)
