So how do you  get your dream home?

misc ramblings from your bellingham real estate pro: Bellingham Real Estate Market Report - June, 2012 - 07/10/12 08:44 PM

June was a good month for Bellingham Real Estate.  The number of sales were up and the price was up from last year and last month. If you take a look at the absorption rate chart you can see there is a balanced market.
There are several factors I think will be driving the market for the next few months. First thing is interest rates are very low and they're expected to stay that way for quite some time. Banks have money and they are lending it. Prices are relatively low and housing inventory is very low, I think … (0 comments)

Looks like Whatcom County real estate had a good month in June the price chart and this number of sales chart have been climbing and are also higher than they were at this time last year.
With the presidential election only four months away I think we'll see some stimulus in the market, no matter who wins. Banks are lending money again, if you have good credit and a steady job you can most likely get a … (0 comments)

misc ramblings from your bellingham real estate pro: Is there is a Recovery in the Housing Market? - 04/16/12 01:56 PM
It has been five years since the U.S. housing bust sent sales and prices declining. Is this the year things will turn around and look like a recovery?
Lower prices, record low mortgage rates, rising rents and an improving job market appear to be bringing out potential buyers. Foreclosures are leading home buyers and  investors to grab bargain-priced homes.
Some people seem to think that prices won’t drop much further. In some cities, prices have begun to tick up, as they have here in Bellingham the past few months. Price increases have occurred both in some hard-hit areas, such as Phoenix, … (1 comments)

misc ramblings from your bellingham real estate pro: The government wants to turn foreclosures into rentals. - 01/18/12 03:12 PM
Government officials want to start a trial program to sell the homes that they own in bulk to investors who will turn them into rentals. That means Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and FHA homes in selected markets around the country. Their hopes are that getting these homes off the government's books, minimizing the losses and putting people back in them will help stabilize neighborhoods as well as housing values.
Fannie and Freddie combined have about 215,000 homes with more coming into foreclosure every day. This program could help get some of those homes lived in again and even help stabilize the … (0 comments)

misc ramblings from your bellingham real estate pro: Whale Watching in Puget Sound - 09/15/11 03:20 PM
The waters of Puget Sound are home to a resident pod of Orca whales, I got to go out and see a few of them on a whale watching trip recently with Island Mariner Cruises that left right out of Bellingham's Squalicum Harbor. They have the largest well watching boat in the Pacific Northwest, the Island Caper. The boat had your typical table and chair set up as most large boats do but they also had a room with couches and overstuffed chairs like a large living room.
It was a beautiful warm sunny day, a great day to be on … (5 comments)

misc ramblings from your bellingham real estate pro: Zillow said my home is worth what? - 08/30/11 12:23 AM
Zillow has become a very popular website for people to look up the value of their homes. It seems to be the most popular of what's known as an automated value models. Only trouble is they're not very accurate, they even state that on their own website explaining how they get what they call their "zestimate". They state "The Zestimate (pronounced ZEST-ti-met, rhymes with estimate) home valuation is Zillow's estimated market value, computed using a proprietary formula. It is not an appraisal. It is a starting point in determining a home's value."
Case in point.
The buyers are looking at a … (11 comments)
