restaurant: When attemps to fund your restaurant with commecial banks fail.... North Attleboro, MASS - 04/08/12 07:36 AM
Another option for funding your start-up restaurant is receiving financing from investors. Restauranteurs often present their business plan before acquaintances within the industry and other willing parties. Gaining investors requires finding the right contacts and soundly proving your ability to make your new restaurant a success. Some tips for finding investors include the following:
Present your operational skills. Many investors are impressed when the owner approaches them with tangible skills, such as culinary skills or a background in accounting. Any experience in the food service industry is extremely helpful as well, not only for your investing parties, but for your … (6 comments)

restaurant: Where do you look to look for funding for your new restaurant? - 03/25/12 03:47 PM
As a former restaurant owner, I do know a few things about the stress envolved in trying to finance your dream of restaurant ownership. So let me give you my opinion of your options.     Commercial bank loans are the most common form of start-up funding for new  businesses. Unfortunately, securing a loan from a major bank as a first-time restaurant owner, has a few major challenges:

The problem is nobody answers the phone! I have called and called and called and finally sent a hand written letter to … (6 comments)

restaurant: Existing restaurant location or vanilla box? Greater North Attleboro, MA - 02/28/12 02:13 PM
What a week I have had perusing restaurant listing after restaurant listing for my client. I would say most of them belong on Kitchen Nightmares, so I decided to start  looking for a vanilla box as a second option. And ohhhh what fun that would be to see him do it from scratch, my ultimate dream come true!
To continue the top reasons that restaurants fail in my opinion...............................

#4 Being closed-minded in concept
Be open to new ideas. Any type of business owner always has a dream or a picture in their head of a certain outcome. But just remember to keep an … (6 comments)

restaurant: Former Restaurant Owner Part 2 - From your Realtor in North Attleboro, MASS - 02/16/12 03:28 PM
Before I was a Realtor I was a longtime restaurant owner. I have owned four successful restaurants, well actually three because one failed miserably, that's a story for another time!
Food Service is in my blood, so I was so ecstatic this week when a long time friend asked me to find a restaurant for him to buy! This is right up my alley and I am so excited to help.
He chose me because I can also help him decide if a location is going to be feasible or not. There are a dozen or so reasons restaurants fail … (4 comments)
