How To Use Zillow Advice - The Video!

Reblogger Rich Jacobson
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams West Sound Realty

Let's face it, as a group, real estate agents are not the most trusting bunch on the planet. Each of us has our fair share of horror stories where we've been taken advantage of by 3rd party providers promising one thing or another. So it's only natural for us to be suspicious.

For so long Agents have been hesitant to participate on Zillow due to past misplaced attitudes towards Zestimates and a lack of trust. However, with the sheer amount of traffic that accesses Zillow daily, it's impossible for today's real estate professionals to ignore the value of establishing a consistent presence there.

In an attempt to offer Zillow tips and tutorials in ways other than writing about them here on my blog, we just launched a video about Zillow Advice, our question and answer forum.

In the upcoming weeks we'll be releasing a series of how-to videos on various Zillow related topics as we build out a Zillow training library.  Our hope is that the videos will give you a better understanding on how to use the various features and tools available on Zillow when connecting with the 8.5 million+ people who visit our site each month.

I'll keep this short and let you watch the video.  But keep an eye out for future releases as well.  Enjoy!

(how painful is it to watch yourself on video! haha)

I agree that Zillow has misinterpereted many home values. One of the problems that I see with the program is it runs strictly on numbers...there is no amplifying information. Though often off-track it is not always easy to explain to clients is engrossed with technoloigy.

Hi Rich - Thanks for reblogging this.  I think it is an excellent opportunity to serve potential clients.  And instead of being frustrated about Zillow because their home values are not accurate, we can benefit from the site and perhaps more than offset that frustration.  I think the only problem with Zillow valuations is that they can only take a city or county and give general info about that area.

In our town, values differ from block to block, and sometimes house to house, since we have a mixture of everything running from 75 year old tiny cottages to huge newer mcmansions - sometimes right next door to each other.  Comps are difficult even for agents in the area, so Zillow could not possibly do it accurately.  Not their fault - just the way it is.  It's our job to explain this to our clients.

I keep hearing what a benefit it is to utilize Zillow - I have a profile but haven't done anything else with it - checking to give "advice" at least once a day is a practice I will implement.  Thanks.
