Nothin' like fresh air and sunshine to sooth the soul...

It is a gorgeous day in the Texas Hill Country!  Yesterday I blogged about licking my wounds after being told I basically wasn't good enough to handle a listing.  Ouch...that kind of feedback hurts!  I generally handle negative feedback well, I have learned to let it roll off my back as my Mom and business partner has taught me to do.  I thought a lot about why that call bothered me so much yesterday because I am one of those people who is compelled to analyze where things went wrong and how I can learn, grow and get better from each experience.

At the end of the day I came to the conclusion that my Mom was right, it wasn't meant to be and I was just being saved from an annoying situation that would unnecessarily monopolize my valuable time.  It wasn't anything I did wrong, it was just a bad situation avoided.  Before I headed home for the day I had to go out and walk some acreage that I am working on listing.  Much like today, yesterday was a picture perfect Texas Hill Country day.  The kind of days that make me thankful that I am blessed to live, work and play in such a heavenly place.

I found the land, parked my minivan, got my plat map and found the front stakes.  Then I began to walk the property...the sun was shining, there was a wonderful breeze and the sky was that clear blue that almost looks like someone painted it.  Perfection.  I got to the back of the property and was walking along observing the building site and the wonderful trees that adorn the lot and a young fawn ran by and two mockingbirds took off from a bush nearby.  The feeling of the warm sun on my face, the gentle breeze blowing my hair and these marvelous surroundings started to transform my mood.

As I hiked back up toward the front of the tract, I looked around and took note of the beauty that surrounded me and all of the sudden this realization hit me...this is where I work!  How cool is that?  How fortunate am I that I get to do this for a living!  It kind of made me feel a little foolish for overreacting earlier in the day to the man who dissed me for another agent.  As I drove back to my house for the day I thought about the day's events and about what is important and all of the sudden it just didn't seem all that significant anymore.  It's amazing how observing what is "right" around us can be so enlightening and empowering and there really is nothin' like fresh air and sunshine to sooth the soul!

Jeani,  I know how you feel.  Living here has such rewards that nothing can ever really be so bad that a look around your environment can't overcome.

Thanks!  Things are looking up...there is too much good stuff going on to dwell on the negative!  My surroundings do help keep things in perspective!  :o)
