the popular voice over IP (VoIP) service, will allow iPhone and iPod touch second generation users to make calls over a WiFi connection.iPod touch users will be able to utilize the service with an external microphone accessory.  The service will not be supported over EDGE or 3G except for the IM chat and checking to see who is on line. This app will allow you to many things the desktop verison is able to do such as, placing and receiving calls, use your address book, conference call participation, and IM chat and more.  There are still a few things missing from the new Skype app like,  file transfer, check voice mail, and call waiting.

Skype for iPhone was in fact released yesterday, and is already at the top of the downloads list. I've downloaded it, but haven't yet had a chance to try it out.  Anyone out there actually use it yet?

I did try it out but you have to buy credits to make phone calls. You can call other users for free. Haven't really done anything else with it.
