Time to Blog

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with STONEHURSTREALTY.COM

I don't know about the rest of you, but I spend an inordinate amount of time on this site.

My husband keeps making little comments like "blogging again?', or "What are we having for dinner?", or "are you walking the dog tonite?"

Now here's the thing. We are all able to see each others posts, points, profiles, etc., so I already know that my blogging is practically nil compared to some of you.

I may spend quite a bit of time "commenting" but to actually get an idea, and a blog, and a photo going, sometimes three times a day, really amazes me!

I also can tell that some of these blogs had to have taken quite a bit of thought and planning.

(I am assuming you are all working, also:)

So, What's the SECRET????

I can't post three blogs a day on all three of my blog sites, let alone three here.  So for those enjoying the 100 post marathon, good luck to them.

I don't think I have ever done 3 a day. Rarely do 2 a day. Takes me about an hour to write and post. But usually I have already written it in my head while driving around.

Now reading and commenting, that's a different story. I would stay on here all day if I didn't have to go out and make a living.

I go days without writing a blog but unless my world is falling down around me I am on here reading and commenting. You just can't stay away!

We all joke about his being an addiction, but today I felt that it truly is becoming an addiction. One of my goals this year was to designate Saturday as my one day off from real estate.

When I got up this morning, I was determined to NOT turn on my lap top because if I did, I knew I'd be there for hours. I've tried to stop smoking in the past, and I admit, I was fighting turning the lap top on just like trying to tell myself to not light up.

I got out of the house by doing some errands that needed to happen. When I came home, I again "fought" with myself and proceeded to do some things around the house that have been left unattended.

I made it OK until 6:30 when the laptop was calling to me like the sirens in that book I read in high school. So long ago, I forget the story.

And here I still am at 10:30 .... it's becoming a real problem!

As blogging has increased, it frustrates me that I don't have enough time to read them all. But no amount of time management will let me do that AND have a real estate business!

I get similar comments from my husband and worse yet, my 11 year old son........"that blogging stuff again?"  With 3 kids (one of them 22 months), the house, full-time real estate...this stuff can really get addicting, but I have gotten some great ideas from it.

Wow, guess I'm not the only one. I too have tried to do what Elaine has, limit myself, turn off the laptop and try not to think about it. Today, I thought I would just get on early and quickly do a few comments.

When I turn my laptop on in the am, I have about 25 messages from comments I have checked off to notify me of new comments. Of course, you know what that does?

By the time you read them all, you are totally in it again.

And if someone that you read regularly doesn't have a recent blog, you start to think something is wrong!

Today, I am limiting myself to three visits.  This is one.

Hope it works.

I'm with you!  I think I am only going on for a few minutes and when I look over an hour has gone by.  There is good stuff in here and I guess we could be doing worse things.  Maybe we should just set a timer.

Blog WinnerYou got quite a response from your blog! Congrats! Like you, AR is my first time blogging and somewhat scary. But, as I got my feet wet (and I'm only talking about a month experience, here), it became very addictive. I really love it. I'm not sure anyone reading my blogs feel the same way but I'm enjoying it. And since the market has certainly taken a dive, it frees up some time for blogging. Have fun, do it for yourself, if no one responds...oh well you got the creative juices flowing and practiced!

Thanks guys for all the comments. Funny thing though, I limited myself today. Did not turn on the laptop till 2:00 pm and my points mysteriously went down????

Now I feel I need to be back here constantly, ha ha, any excuse.

same way in my house...what's for dinner?  Are you on that website again reading about people?  So funny.  I haven't been on in about 2 days...I was going into withdrawls.

Yeah, and when you do that, if you checked "notify me of new comments', it takes an hour to get through them all.

I have been trying the 3 a day system. In the am with my coffee, in the afternoon on a break and in the evening while watching tv with my hubby.

Probably still too much, but seems to be working:)

"The Lovely Karen"

This was one of those "ask the right question" Blogs...Good For You! I honestly do not see how some of these folks can keep up the pace they are running on. One can only assume that 3 Blogs a day...10 Comments per day....Solicting for New Members...Taking care of their families and Working...Will eventually catch up to them. It has to be exhausting! I am happy with my one post (usually) and of course I really like Blog reading. Congratulations on this Excellent Post!

Thankyou LW for the encouragement!

I thought of 3 great blogs today and promptly forgot them as I was going through my daily calls.

Hopefully they will come back. I do not want to write blogs that are not positive, although they probably would get a lot of feedback.

This market is a bummer, though. (at least in my area)

Sara,

I really don't understand why this is so addicting.

I have been on forums before, and I hardly look at them now.

Possibly something to do with the Notify me of new comments, so that everytime I turn my laptop on, there are 20 from AR alone. And I can't just delete them, what if I miss something?

AAAAgggghhhh. I am turning this off again

Karen,

I just added to your inbox with yet another remark.  I may need to go to the mall later today.  The concealer is getting low.  I was up until 2 am reading away.

Yeah, and guess who just signed back on to read it. I need this laptop for work. I bet you learned a lot last night!  I do that sometimes, no comments, just reading.
