It's All about Family - Wednesday at the Masters!

Wednesday morning at the Masters Golf Tournament was cold but sunny!  For those who don't know this area of Georgia and South Carolina, it is a short 45 minute ride from our home in Savannah Lakes Village in McCormick, SC to the Masters parking lot!

Thank goodness, Wednesday's wind was not gusting like it did on Monday and Tuesday.  By 1:00 pm, the day had warmed to a balmy 74 degrees for the Par 3 contest.  (Did you know that Augusta National has a Par 3 course adjacent to the regular course?)  In addition to all the famous young golfers of today, it was exciting to be there and actuall see Greg Norman's hole-in-one on #6 and watch from a few feet away as Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player played hole #5!  What a day!

Many golf fans and golfers don't realize that Wednesday's Par 3 has become a ‘Family Day' for the professional golfers.  It's the day before the tournament actually begins and everyone gets very very serious about golf!  Most golfers don't think of the golf course as a place for families but this is just one way that the Masters and Augusta National sets itself apart from other golf tournaments!

Pictures tell a story!  Yes, we have all the pictures of Amen Corner, Phil, Arnie, Jack, Fuzzy and all the others who were there.  We hope you enjoy a collage of some of the best pictures of all!  Enjoy!

Can you name all the families represented?

Toula- Yes, we had a great time.  Did you notice the photos of the children?  That was my favorite part of the Par 3 - to see the kids and wives caddying.  They all had such a good time.  We use to go to Myrtle Beach to the Seniors Tournament!  One of my most favorite stories is the day we followed Gary Player, Lee Trevino, and Al Giberger (sp?).  They were a hoot and really interacted with the crowd.  They didn't take themselves too seriously, either!  Have a great weekend!

Bruce and Mary, while I'm not a huge golfer or fan, I have a couple of dedicated golfers in the office.  They have the Masters application on their I-Phones and are watching the tournament live!

Gabe - We are huge fans but we haven't gotten that far!  We just tape it and watch it later if we are not going to be able to see it live!  It is a lot of fun, though.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Liz - The golfers have had their children as caddies for several years now.  I don't think it was ever intended to be a Childrens Day - I think it just happened and now some families are out there on the par 3 course with the golfers.  I think it's a great touch - to see the dads and their children (and wives, too).  In the case of Greg Norman, Chris Everett was his caddy.  In the picture are Boo Weekly and son, KJ Choi and children, Stuart Appleby's daughter, Sean O'Hair's daughter, Gary Player and grandson (with Jack Nicklaus in background) and Greg Norman and his wife, Chris.  They were all very entertaining!  Have a great weekend!
