People Are Just Like A Bunch Of Carrots

By

CarrotsMany of us that aren't real farmers or backyard vegetable gardners are not experts on carrots. But I wonder what the early cave man or woman must of thought when weeding around the cave one day. They pulled up on that green top and low and behold below the ground were these orange vegetable thingys.

People Are Just Like Carrots.

In working with people in a real estate business or in interacting with them in life, what appears on the surface is so almost never what people are truly all about. I think in the not judging the book by its cover, your best approach is time. Hold out on what appears to be for awhile. Ask lots of questions, listen to the answers people give you. Watch their mannerisms. Watch behavior and correlate that behavior to others you've seen in life with similar behavior. Above all watch actions over words. Actions usually do not deceive you.

People are much deeper than just what is on the surface. Much can be buried initially. But with a little digging them out, you'll find in the depths people really can be part of a very flavorful stew that is life.

Hi Gary-Great post. This paragraph I like the best

Above all watch actions over words. Actions usually do not deceive you.

People are much deeper than just what is on the surface. Much can be buried initially. But with a little digging them out, you'll find in the depths people really can be part of a very flavorful stew that is life.

In my book actions ALWAYS speak louder than words. While words are powerful. They aren't nearly as powerful in my eyes, if there isn't the action to back up the words.

You are right people are much deeper than is what is on the surface. If you care enough to dig a little deeper as still waters run deep. But like the seeds that you plant in a garden if you plant a seed, nuture it with unconditional love, then that seed will blossom into a strong, healthy and beautiful flower or tasty veggie or fruit or a quiet person grows, blossoms and you get to witness their inner beauty and strength.

A tune which is so true if people just look at the surface and don't take the time to go below the surface. The inner being is where there core is.

So true, isn't it? Actions do speak louder than words. And they do show the true character of someone. Another fantastic post.

I do often see how having a business is very much like having a garden...I am only lacking a nice, garden path and a restful place to sit (besides in front of my computer!) It's always a good reminder to look beyond the initial appearance of things...and to observe the actions more...a bunch of wisdom here...thanks for the post!

A tomato is definitely a fruit.  I don't think carrot could be a fruit, no matter how hard it tries.  It's a root.  Never had a client that looked like a carrot, yet.

Gary - I wonder what the early cave man or woman must of thought? Why would anybody even ever think of eating one of those orange vegetable thingys?

My dog is a carrot eater. I have her convinced that broccoli, carrots, sweet potatoes and ice cubes are special treats.

I just love it when you have these thoughts!  And it is so nice to combine the thought for the day with a happy chuckle!  The "orange vegetable 'thingy'" got my giggle going on!  Sometimes I look at the pot of stew that I have been served and wonder why I did not "see" what is really there.  Don't they say that carrots are good for your eyes?   hmmmm

Gary, I loved this and it's TRUE.  The first few minutes of a consultation are sometimes subdued...and then clients start to come out and really open up!  It's a wonderful feeling and we often have a laugh over it later on!

Hi Gary... I have done a couple of vegetable themed posts lately... but yours, not surprisingly, is much "deeper" than mine! :)

Hi Gary,

You never cease to amaze me! What a great analogy...people are like carrots and you should never judge them by their covers. There is always so much to uncover and discover.

Gary, that is a great - and perfect - analogy.  You usually have to dig a little to get to the good stuff.

While I am not a huge carrot fan I do like your analogy of people having deeper roots like carrots do.  Whenever I have something with shredded carrots in it I give htem to my dog.  He gobbles them right up.  KM
